Good piece done by him on the BBC rugby league page , I've warmed to this lad since hes been at Cas on and off the field, I know he does a lot to help people in the community around Cas

Re: Pete Mata'utia
I like Mata’utia as a player and thought we’d see the best of him at right centre, where he played in the NRL.
However, he’s also a great ambassador for the club. He’s the first one to agree to visit schools in the community and do training sessions and presentation evenings for junior clubs.
On game-day, he spends as long as he can talking to kids, signing autographs and doing photographs.
In fairness, all our players seem to be really good at engaging with supporters, but Pete is one that goes above and beyond what he needs to do.

On behalf of Castleford Academy I can certainly agree with that. I would also add that we get great support from many of our old boys (and girls) who play for several teams and we are proud of, and grateful to them for their time.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑03 May 2020, 00:16 I like Mata’utia as a player and thought we’d see the best of him at right centre, where he played in the NRL.

Thank you all for being excellent role models to our students.

Re: Pete Mata'utia
Seems to have taken over the Jake Webster role at our club. I dont mean just the position but the community stuff as well as the autographs and whatnot. Jake was always the last off the field on game days

I know he helps out at Ponteftact food bank often. A really nice down to earth bloke. Fits into our club really well and is a decent player too.

Re: Pete Mata'utia
In fairness, all the players seem to be more than happy to support the local community. You’d be hard pressed to find a junior club pre-season presentation or end-of-season awards evening without a first-team Cas player there handing out shirts or trophies etc. Similarly, they engage with many local schools and send first-team players to work with the kids.
Not to mention the work done in Pinderfields, PGI and the Prince of Wales. Much if it goes unpublicised, but it is happening.

It makes you proud to be a tiger fan. The way the club and players get involved in local events and helping out at venues. I applaud everyone of them. It's great to see we are all still communicating with each other even in these desperate times. Head up everyone we'll march through this together. Coyf
