Minimum wage cancelled
Minimum wage cancelled
What's the thoughts on Minimum wage been cancelled for the young boys?
A chance to get their foot in the door or a decision verging exploitation ?

Re: Minimum wage cancelled
As in all areas of work, nobody is forced to take a wage they think is unfair. If a young player thinks he can earn more than 15k outside rugby league, then he can choose to do so.
Re: Minimum wage cancelled
I don’t think the 15k is the issue, it’s lads possibly starting to train and play on far less, even as low as 3/5k I was reading

Re: Minimum wage cancelled
Unless they are forced to do so, I don't see the problem. If they think they can earn more money in another job, nobody is stopping them from doing so.
Re: Minimum wage cancelled
A lot will be looking at other job oppertunitys during these times if theve any sense

Re: Minimum wage cancelled
I wouldn't be too sure. The jobs RL players tend to do when they retire from the game suggest that for the vast majority, playing RL pays them more than anything else they are capable of doing. There are some with earning potential in other fields, but not many.

Re: Minimum wage cancelled
it hasn't been cancelled. old rule was that they couldn't include any one in a first team game if they were on less than £15,000. this rule has been dropped in case the season resumes with plans to play 2 to 3 games per week.
this would allow clubs to use more players if needed from the academy.

Re: Minimum wage cancelled
So true Notts. It will also be the case that no one will be forced to play RL when all this is over and the game could be lost because players don't/didn't feel valued.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑29 Apr 2020, 09:26As in all areas of work, nobody is forced to take a wage they think is unfair.
