Case in point tonight, a long pass to Williams, open to opinion but similar to the one on the video earlier in this thread. Called forward but passer’s hands pointing backwards as ball leaves.

It’s the same with knock ons In a different way, maybe a grid system like the one used in this video could be used on a sky video ref decision for forward passing, and ANY drop ball is a knock on unless a foot got to it on the bounce.

The forward pass rule is my biggest bugbear in the game.
These videos are all well and good when players are running full pelt and make a straight pass. It is the law of physics. But I also think players know this and can get away with it.
Half the time players aren't running fast enough and the force they use for the pass should be enough for them do it backwards.
For me, we need to put the onus on players to pass backwards and rule any pass forward as such, and same for flat passes. Even if that means changing the angle of their run or body.
