Re: Squad for 2021
would be nice joining his brother at his home town club. watched him from the under 8's and i with a lot of others thought he was one of the best young prospects for years (sorry lofthouse) but he just hasn't kicked on at leeds. dan smith said signing for leeds as a youngster was his biggest mistake.

SL forward who's mates with Junior & Jesse could be any number of players, the NRL forward no clue at all.

Re: Squad for 2021
Maybe so but as an additional option on a two year deal along with a frontline NRL prop should see us keep the good depth that we have/need.KB80 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2020, 00:05Hope not, he will be approaching 33 by the start of next season.HuddsTigers wrote: ↑18 Feb 2020, 23:19 My guess would be Matagi from Huddersfield since they have all played with Samoa together.
Still so much that can change though. Expect a lot will hang on whether we agree a deal with Rankin, whether McMeeken stays, and whether Cook feels he can go around again.
May need 5/6 signings next year. It is a big recruitment period for us.

Arona signed his deal in July going by reports so not him.nottinghamtiger wrote: ↑18 Feb 2020, 20:18Hasn’t Tinirau Arona only recently signed a new deal with Wakefield? If so, it could have been him they were talking about as he’s always with JSL.Easy Tiger 2 wrote: ↑18 Feb 2020, 16:56SL forward who’s mates with the boys and off-contract looks likely to be Ben Murdoch-Masila, what a signing that would be though!!TheSheriff wrote: ↑18 Feb 2020, 16:47 Pivot will be Jamie Shaul - out of contract and Wells has been talking him up big time on Sky.

Re: Squad for 2021
To be fair, there will be players who aren’t “officially” out-of-contract, but who will be available.TheSheriff wrote: ↑19 Feb 2020, 19:04 Lot of players who aren't even out of contract being mentioned on here...
Mostly because many contracts that are agreed include a year that is an option in either the player’s or the club’s favour (or both). Take Luke Gale’s 5 year contract, that it transpired later was actually a four year contract with an optional year that either the club or the player could decline. At the time it was reported it was a “5 year deal”, but the last year was optional for both parties.
Then there will be players who are available because their club allow them to look elsewhere, for whatever reason (eg Jamie Ellis, who we allowed to leave despite a contract to the end of 2020).

Smith come out and says he loves it at leeds and is hoping for a new deal there

Re: Squad for 2021
Cam as always said he’s happy at Leeds. I believe he’s had the chance to come to cas numerous times over the years but as always stayed true to Leeds.
Obviously let’s think who his agent is and how he’s excellent of playing one club off against another.
The other thing to take in to consideration although he’s a free agent you still have to pay compensation for any player u23 that’s come through the scholarship/academy system which I believe is 15k per season they have been at the club so in Cameron’s case that would be 7 years or 105k

Re: Squad for 2021
This quote doesn't fill me with confidence, he'll be 29 in January 2021....
Evans, who made 19 appearances for the Eels in 2019, is in a battle for regular game-time this year.
The forward told The Sydney Morning Herald earlier this month: “I want to play until I’m 32 and then retire. I don’t know how many more pre-seasons my body can go through.
“I want to be playing NRL this year. When I get my chance I’ll try to dominate, do what I do, try and win a comp and get a new contract. I want to start well and then see where I’ll be in 2021.”
It is believed Evans is one of Castleford’s main targets as they look to build their squad for 2021.
The Tigers have an ageing front-row with Junior Moors turning 34 in July, and both Grant Millington and Matt Cook turning 34 at the end of this year

Re: Squad for 2021
So you’ll get 3/4 good years out of him then, at the moment there isn’t many props about on the market, so I’d happily take an experienced NRL player.heritage1926 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2020, 18:24 This quote doesn't fill me with confidence, he'll be 29 in January 2021....
