test side
no place for Watts and Trueman in this weekends match, the way they have performed over the last few weeks i thought at least one of them would have got a start, if its broken it needs mending
Re: test side
Watts isn’t in the squad to start with, is he? Trueman has been named in the 21 man squad.
Re: test side
Bennett as flown Handley across the globe and not even named him in the 21 even tho weve only got one winger ,i think hes taking the mickey a bit now
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have

Re: test side
Good. Whilst I felt sorry for Liam on a personal level as I’m sure he wanted to play, from the club’s point of view he has had a nice long rest rather than getting smashed about by those Tongan and NZ forwards. He’ll be back in pre-season at the same time as everyone else and that’s the best preparation for 2020.
Similarly, whilst Jake has been on tour he hasn’t played so hasn’t been faced with tacking the the likes of Taumalolo etc, who no doubt would have seen a skinny kid as a prime target to run at.
They might want to play for the international team, and there’s an argument that playing for GB/England whilst at the club shows it can be done (whereas you usually have to play for an NRL team or Wigan), but I think there are times (such as long tours to the other side of the world) when it’s best for them not to play!
As for Bennett, it was an awful and unbalanced squad from the start. Two wingers was never going to end well, and there was little point taking six half backs. He only selected five props in the touring squad too - again, you need that many every game and as soon as injuries occur (and that’s pretty likely when you have the NZ and Tongan forwards looking to smash anything that moves) then it ends up with second rowers playing at prop. That rarely ends well.
Re: test side
Watts was never named in the GB squad that's why he went Bali and got married.
Re: test side
Jake has been picked for the match at the weekend. Along with Zak so we will have to wait and see.

Re: test side
Makes you wonder what Watts has to do. Only forward in MOS short list, repeated MOM, more meters, tackles, minutes than most forwards.

Re: test side
No doubt wattsy at the very least should have been in the squad on his form. Just wondering if the nasty finger injury had any bearing on his admission from the squad.?
Anyhow GBs loss is our gain and fit and fresh wattsy and the admission hopefully drives him to be even better next season.

If so, doubt they would have used him in the ninesbraytontiger wrote: ↑12 Nov 2019, 21:37 No doubt wattsy at the very least should have been in the squad on his form. Just wondering if the nasty finger injury had any bearing on his admission from the squad.?

Re: test side
Not sure that's entirely true. That's why he travelled to Bali and got married straight after the 9s tournament.Tamworth Tiger wrote: ↑12 Nov 2019, 21:07He was put on standby though so could have been drafted in when the injuries occurred like Handley was

Fair enough. I’m pretty sure he was on standby at one stage. Maybe they released him

He was/is on standby.
Handley was on holiday when he got called up too. Had to fly home and immediately jump on a plane to NZ.

Wonder if Watts opted out of being on stand by then as you don't just book a wedding if you could be called away.

Re: test side
Guess it depends how long ago it was booked. Bali is a stones throw away from Australia so not that far away to hop on a flight, get married and fly back again.
I'd imagine it's been planned well in advance but equally if he's got ambitions of being on Tour with Eng/GB then I imagine 12 months ago he would have known he could have been picked so they worked around that.
Or it could just be a spur of the moment wedding? Booked it, packed it.....

Was a spur of the moment wedding. No friends or family knew about it, until it had happened.HuddsTigers wrote: ↑13 Nov 2019, 19:06 Guess it depends how long ago it was booked. Bali is a stones throw away from Australia so not that far away to hop on a flight, get married and fly back again.

Meeks. Gale and Holmes suffered from going to the England camps but they have to take the opportunity when they can. Unfortunately to the detriment of the club.
Congrats to liam and his wife.
