Club Vacancy
https://www.castlefordtigers.com/article.php?id=6475
The club are looking for someone with a master’s degree in psychology who also has British Psychology Status accreditation. Basically, someone who can earn 50k given the qualifications they have.
But the club want to pay them nothing. Are they for real?

Saw this on twitter.
I agree some form of payment should be given but would be great experience for somebody straight out of Uni looking for work or somebody who loves the club and wants to help out.
Im guessing this is part time so will still bbe able to earn plenty of money from the other paid job.

Re: Club Vacancy
Someone straight out of uni might have a BA/BSc Psychology, but unlikely an MPych or BPS accreditation. With those qualifications, you’re usually talking about someone already working in some kind of clinical or educational psychology,Swagger wrote: ↑02 Nov 2019, 15:59 Saw this on twitter.

The club are in dreamland if they think they are likely to get someone with this level of expertise to work for free. A student currently studying and undergraduate degree maybe, but not a highly qualified and practising psychologist.
And let’s not get into the fact that some of the paid employees of the club have none of the qualifications that would usually be required for the role they hold, but have the right surname.

Re: Club Vacancy
I don't think many fans would disagree the need exists for such a position.
However those who are good at what they do will no doubt be in a paid position.
Small pool of candidates.
Retired Cas fan?
Newly qualified wanting to build up a C, V.
Other than that can't see many applicants.

Re: Club Vacancy
Been a union man nobody should give up their time for nothing regardless of the role they are been offered.
Do those currently running the club work for nothing? Of course not they are probably paid more than their qualifications for the job whilst expecting higher qualified personnel are expected to work for free.
We are a top flight sports club that gets a huge amount of money from sky not the local amateur club.

Re: Club Vacancy
It's just a measure of the people that are running the club that theve got the front to ask for a mental skills coach to do the job for nothing
Surprised they even bothered to advertise it and not give the job to one of the Gratton clan

Re: Club Vacancy
For me, it’s a reflection of an attitude held by the club. They think they are bigger than they are, and consequently think that highly-qualified people should be so grateful of the opportunity to work for them that they will do it for no pay.

A professional club should not be wanting anyone to work for free
The reason the job qualifications aside has not been given to the family and friends of Coca Cola mafia is it’s unpaid and they only milk the cash cow that is Castleford rlfc allegedly

Really. So charity shops who rely on volunteers should all shut then. Bit narrow minded imo but dont get me started on unions.braytontiger wrote: ↑02 Nov 2019, 17:14 Been a union man nobody should give up their time for nothing regardless of the role they are been offered.

I’ve always said some degrees are worthless, turns out I was correct. Looking on the bright side at least the successful candidate won’t have to worry about paying off his £60k college debt if he decides to work for nothing.

Re: Club Vacancy
Those charity shops do an amazing job both locally and nationally with huge help from volunteers that are picking up the slack of failing governments. so to answer you should they all shut. My answer would be no but the staff should be paid in at very least expenses from a government fund instead of sending billions of pounds in foreign aid abroad.Derbyshiretiger wrote: ↑02 Nov 2019, 19:17Really. Re: Club Vacancy
It’s unbelievable what type work people volunteer for these days. The rot set in with London 2012 when thousands of volunteers/mugs (delete as applicable) worked for free at a event that generated 100s of billions of pounds. Ever since the act of volunteering has taken the place of paid work at various sports events, concerts etc.

maybe no pay but he stayed in the village and ate with the athletes all for free. he still has his kit/uniform and is very proud of it but some made their money by selling it on e bay. he wouldn't mind me saying though that he was fortunate enough not to need the money and i suspect quite a few were the same.

If what you say is true its worrying. Wakefield had something similar when extended members of Ted Richardson family were employed throughout the club.Johnlewis1920 wrote: ↑02 Nov 2019, 18:04 A professional club should not be wanting anyone to work for free
