Director of Rugby ??

Can anybody enlighten me as to the duties and responsibilities of the Director of Rugby, what is his role in the club, and where does he sit in the in the pyramid of responsibility ??

He is probably about 4th in the importance list after Fulton, Gratton, Powell and Hudds Tiger.

Sorts out contracts
Identifies new players and gets the yes/no from Powell then goes out and signs them
Essentially takes the things that Powell doesn't need to spend his time on (i.e. the admin side of things).
Same as a DoF in Football or a General Manager in American sports, they're the link between ownership and coaching staff.
