Re: Gale
I can’t see any sensible reason for him to play whether he’s stopping or going. The risk is too high whichever way you look at it.

Must be something in his contract.flood light tiger wrote: ↑26 Sep 2019, 12:35What is this pay out forheritage1926 wrote: ↑26 Sep 2019, 08:06 I've heard if Gale plays another certain amount of games for Cas, the club owe him a pay out.
Re: Gale
But surely he'd have got the money if he'd played this season?

Re: Gale
Gale has played 104 games for Cas, a loyalty bonus for a certain amount of games is nothing new but 105 seems a strange number. I'd of though the loyalty bonus would of been for 100 or 150 games.

Re: Gale
I've no doubt such contracts exist but how the hell will Gale meet his target having missed so many games over the lsat 2 seasons?

Re: Gale
I also find it hard to believe that any game milestone would have been reached with his injuries over the last couple of years.
More likely not wanting to tempt fate.
Play him he becomes injured.
Deal off and we are left with the lad in the stand.
Whatever the outcome.
I wish the lad well
If he is still at Cas l also wish him every success.
You have brought us some great memories.
Enough of this.

Re: Gale
Don't like how this is all come about. 150k (if that is the figure) is a very generous sum for a 31 year old, however, I can't help but feel a slight bit of betrayal from Luke wanting to force the move to Leeds. As soon as he bought his new house in Rothwell the writing was on the wall, then the rumours of him wanting to go started.

Not sure a new house in Rothwell was that big a clue, its only 15 minutes from Wheldon Road!

Re: Gale
Who knows whether he did force the move?
Re: Gale

As soon as they get ideas above their station they always move to Rothwell!!!
Think that’s funniest thing I’ve seen on here for years. I don’t blame him for going, he’s not getting any younger and his career been injury plagued. Thanks for the memories Luke it was a shame that the fans didn’t say farewell properly though as this deal has been the worst kept secret for years.

Re: Gale
Anyone who knows anything knows that at any time ANY club makes an enquiry for one of our players, we are obliged to tell that player a club is in for him and ask whether he wishes to move.
If he does, the valuation then needs to be met.
It’s all straightforward unless you’re a snake and a liar. Like Denny Solomona.

Re: Gale
As above, the player is going to find out anyway, so there's no use avoiding it. Player has a decision to make, he can speak to the team and hear what they had to say. Perhaps he went into a meeting with Cas who said that they would offer him a new deal next year but on reduced terms. Leeds could have topped that, which makes it an easier decision for LG. Easier to let him go now for a fee and reinvest in the squad.
That being said, if it is true, I can't help but feel sad and disappointed that LG never got to sign off with any kind of trophy win with us. He's been a huge part of what we've developed here.
