I hope Junior comes through pre season and gets fit. He had a bad injury and was in a bad way for weeks. It would be good if he could have an influence in a few games for us. Last season either way?

Most players knowing its their last hurrah play exceptionally well. Then we clamber for them to get a new contract and it all goes bits up.

I'd like to see a clear plan from the club and let us know they are retiring and we can give them a season long send off. Benny deserved one and it would have been nice for him.

Just listened to Forty 20 on youtube and Scohfield has us down as finishing 4th!
With driving momentum being lost from Millington and Moors and questions about their fitness I think 4th is questionable.
Also the partnership of the halfbacks may not click from day one of the season.

I'd have us 3rd if nothing happens injury wise to the two half -backs

With a relatively injury free season the lost punching power of the mentioned forwards a centre whats lost his cutting edge with age and a new (but promising) half back what has to settle in, its a fight for 5th for me.
I do hope I'm proved wrong and 3rd would be exceptional in my eyes.

There are a good half a dozen players in the squad who can't afford injury hit seasons, otherwise they have to be moved on.

I would also absolutely take a top 5 finish right now. This season could be the most competitive yet.

we are stronger than last season the players we have brought in are arguably better than the ones released we have had two seasons without a specialist have back , worry over Moors regaining his fitness Millington one of the best signings over recent years is another year older same goes for shenny but any luck on the injury front a top five place is achievable

Think we’ve got a great squad, one more “big” signing away from challenging saints and Wigan. Gonna be a fight between cas, Hull, Warrington and Leeds for places 3-5 this year. Catalan will always drop off and I don’t think Salford will replicate what they did last year unfortunately for them.

You’ve got to factor in James Maloney with Catalans.
He’ll paper over the coaching weakness that is Steve McNamara in the way Sinfield did at Leeds. He’ll run that team on the field, in training and probably socially too. I remember seeing an interview with one of the NSW players who joked that the only thing he didn’t do was read each player a bedtime story. In terms of influence, he’ll make more difference than SBW on his team.
Saints have the unpredictability of a new coach. The players bought into Holbrook, but they’ll be disappointed to see him leave and it’s going to be hard for a new coach to fill his boots. The players are professionals, but we all know that when you lose a good boss, it’s hard not to compare the new boss and start lose faith in him/her.
I’m going for a top 5 of:
1. Wigan.
2. St Helens.
3. Warrington
4. Castleford.
5. Hull FC.
But I think it will be a close-run battle between us, Warrington, Hull FC and Catalans and any of those teams could finish anywhere between 3rd and 6th. As always, injuries will play a massive part in the success of any of the clubs, from top to bottom.

Interesting that nobody thinks the Rhinos will be in contention.

Granted Agar has all the coaching ability of McBananna, but they have got some class players and the additional of Gale could be the catalyst they need, think its going to be an interesting top 8 to be honest...............

I too think Leeds will flirt with the very top at some point this coming season, but fall away into 6th.

Yet again we'll be going into the season without a gem at full back. I'm very surprised at Daryl allowing this to happen; the fullback is always the jewel in his tactical crown and if we DID have a high quality bloke there I'd definitely fancy us for a tilt at silverware.

Unless the coaching team are devising a new attacking structure involving tight plays at the ruck etc.

I think we’ll regret either choosing not to make an offer or missing out on Alex Walker.
Unfortunately the income that Salford will have generated from getting to the GF probably means they won’t be as financially desperate, so Evalds is probably a no-go too (for now),
It’s an odd one - it’s as if we are waiting for a top full-back to become available. Every player we sign to play there seems to be a short-term fix. Meanwhile, Wigan sign Bevan French to play on the wing (maybe).
Tony Gigot isn’t signed anywhere yet, is he? I’d take him in a heartbeat.

Full back is the least problems we have to be honest.
We really did struggle with the forwards last year.

I think the problem we’ve got is that not many of our players would get in the first choice starting 17 at Wigan or St Helens.
Full backs (Rankin and Mata’utia) - no, Coote and Hardaker are better.
Wingers (Eden and Feki) - no, Makinson, Grace, Marshall, Burgess and French are better. I guess that’s maybe a bit harsh on Feki, he might be a superstar in SL, but he’ll have to be good to be better than the above.
Centres (Blair and Shenton) - no, Percival, Naiqama and Gildart are better. Maybe Wigan would take Blair over Hankinson.
Halves (Trueman and Richardson) - I think Fages and Lomax are both better than our two, as is Hastings at Wigan. I don’t doubt Wigan would take Trueman though.

In the forwards, I don’t see our pack as a whole as better than either Wigan’s or Saints’s. Liam Watts would walk into either team, beyond that I think McMeekan and Sene-Lafeo are the only ones who would be in Wigan or Saints’ first choice 17. Maybe that’s harsh on some of our players, but Wigan’s kids seem to have the better of our more experienced forwards last year.

i wouldnt say burgess was better than feki and i dont think it matters who would get in what squad Powell gets the team playing as a group
On our forwards for next season there will be a massive fight for starting places anybody not upping there game will be stood down
I agree on Gigot id look to him also before he gets taken by french kick and clap, unless weve got a player lined up to come in as full back which wouldnt surprise me

Benny wasn’t on the field long enough to deserve a season long send off most fans were glad to see the back of him

Very true.
Still don’t know the full story about his spat with adz either.
I would guess once you fall out with adz, macca and the rest of the squad begin to reassess too..
