Head coach Daryl Powell added: “Derrell has been a standout winger in Super League this season,

Upgrade on Clare

If Feki signs will just be cover for centre and Wing.

Depends how you look at it

8 tries in 19 appearances
9th in metres made
4th in tackle busts
Average gain of 7m per carry.

Certainly no slouch and he's adequate cover for Eden and Feki.

Depends on the context of the signing.
If he’s Clare’s replacement in the starting 13 then he’s an improvement, but by no means is he a top winger.
If he’s signed to give utility value and cover across the back line then he could be a good bit if business.
My issue is the three year deal. Again, it’s a year too long and if he’s poor in 2020, we’re stuck with him for a further two years (just as we have been with Clare and Ellis). I don’t think many other clubs would be offering him a three year deal.

Agreed. To have him as a back up if Feki signs is good for me.

Salford fan here, take it from me! He’s awful! If he’s an improvement on any of your wingers then they must be absolutely terrible!

He costs us around 6-10 points a game with his stupid unforced errors.

Probably will be a upgrade on Clare....but I agree his defence looked poor all over place one of games I saw him

Have you seen our wingers recently?? He will only be a back up anyway.

After today's two confirmations I can only assume that Daryl Powell and Jon Wells are preparing the club for Championship rugby league.

Well I agree with the club looking at other alternatives but I think we aren't doing too good on this one but I'll give him a chance what other alternatives have we got.

I truly hope he is a back up but then you go to the point made by Notts tiger why three year deal?
And I know you have to big up your signings but for Powell to say he's a standout winger in super league is frankly ludicrous

Still getting in the team over Ken Sio & Greg Johnson..

Scores 1 in 2 tho reckon he would get 20+ for us.

But he will just be back up.

Taking a punt on him for a year I could understand but 3 years is way over the top
He will start with a clean slate like everyone else who signs but I’m not full of optimism if I’m honest

Because it gives us a settled squad? Players aren’t going to accept 1 year deals unless in the twilight of their career so you are looking at 2+ minimum.

Remember a certain Solomona. If he performs well next season we then have an asset who clubs will have to buy out to sign? If he doesn’t perform, he gives us cover and plays in the Reserves for the next few years.

The club will always look to avoid huge upheaval every season. And it’s likely to be a lower cost deal anyway that means it’s not huge to cut or for someone else to take on should we wish to move him on.

Personally I trust in Powell’s judgement to take a punt on someone. He hasn’t done too bad with Solomona and Eden as wingers.

As long as Eden and Feki are our starting wingers in 2020, it's fine. Has more pace then Clare.

Wingers for 2020 I assume Eden, Feki,Clare,Olpherts.

Gill and Egodo to make way

Both of whom who are our injured.

Johnson hasn’t played a game all season and Sio only made the bench against Wigan to make up the numbers. He didn’t come on.

I’ll not rush to judge the player but I do think the contract given is a year too long. Should’ve been two years with an option for the third in the clubs favour.
