Powell impressed with Wardle

Post by Spy in the stands » 27 Jun 2019, 11:41

Heard recent interview that Powell has been impressed with the form of Joe Wardle at Huddersfield and has not ruled out a return for him at Cas.

If we can get him commited to the club he would be a great asset. Specially with our ageing pack.

DP knows his business but after all the rhetoric we heard from Wardle when he returned from Australia ie I only wanted to play for Cas they are a great club yada yada yada yada but for reasons unknown to us his attitude seemed to diminish and his commitment to the club was poor so off he goes to Huddersfield performs much better in their shirt than he ever did in ours , I suspect perhaps the money offered by cas was the main reason he signed for us, but in his heart he wanted to return to Huddersfield hence the poor attitude and performances for us,so of on loan/swop to Huddersfield he gets the best of both ,playing for the club he wants to play for with his contacted wages no doubt subsidised by Cas ,conspiracy theory or what ??

Powell's right to say this if there can be a fresh start next season we get a good player who can cover positions and a quota spot back if he wants to stay at giants and there desperate to keep him they need to put a whole lot better offer up for next season
We've had are pants pulled down in the past be ridiculous to let it happen again when we're in the strong position
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have

his form was top notch before he went down under, playing for CAS he did not look half the player he was before he went to AUS at Huddersfield he as recaptured his old form, i would certainly bring him back next season as Rankin as not set the world on fire

People seem to claim that he left because of facilities, but let's be fair, he's not an over seas player who's never heard of Cas before. He's played down Lane for Huddersfield countless times, he knew what he was getting in to, in that aspect.

I'm going on the good old no smoke without fire cliché and believe, for what ever reason, he doesn't want to play at Cas. In which case, he's better off being a world beater at Hudds and we can concentrate on getting in someone who does want to play for us.

Awful centre. May as well have Mcmeeken in there.

Powell saying this to get a decent deal out of Huddersfield or a more useful player in a swap deal?

If they think we want him back. They can't have him unless they're offering cash or player

Huddersfield certainly got the better deal.
Ideally return Rankin.
Frees up cap space and quota spot.
Ask for cash for Wardle.
Gives us an opportunity to spend to strengthen rather than what we are given.
Out of interest do Huddersfield have a quota spot to take Rankin back?

Quick question - if a player is swapped temporarily, like the Wardle/Rankin situation, and the parent club continues to pay their wage...

Which club's quota is affected? Does it remain the obligation of the parent club?
