Hard to judge due to injury.Tigersbarmy wrote:Jordan wants to be with us post 2019 . What does everyone think of his time at the Tigers so far
He offers plenty of options and can play almost anywhere in the back-line.
But he takes up a quota spot.
I’d be okay with giving him a one-year deal if we don’t have any other non-fed players lined up who would improve the first choice 17. But he’s not first-choice in any position.
Re: Rankin
Lot of versatility, could provide us with a Luke Dorn type solution at full back, maybe Peanut to centre, we need depth in our back line.

Can't understand this idea of moving Peanut. He takes the high ball, he's positionally excellent, responsible for two line breaks last Thursday, bought as a full back, just need to avoid letting him kick off!

Re: Rankin
We will also see a better Pete when Gales back. Needs that bit of quality to help him link up with play. Too often this year, PM has made himself available as a link runner and the balls hasn't gone to him or died with Trueman or Aston.cogito ergo sum wrote:Can't understand this idea of moving Peanut. As good as Zak is, it was Gale providing him the balls he needed when he linked up well in 2017. Look at him now at Wigan, he's just not as effective because 1) Wigan don't play that expansive and 2) George Williams and Sammut/Powell don't have that quality Gale has with ball in hand.

Re: Rankin
As much as i like rankin id let him go back to hudds and make hudds pay us a fee for wardle if they want him to stay and then rankin frees up a quota space for us again to use somewhere else where we might need it eg,another forward or a better winger than what we have

Re: Rankin
Difficult situation. He is decent and versatile but for a quota spot you want a nailed on first team starter.

Re: Rankin
I doubt Hudds will pay a fee for Wardle, which would mean he would end up back at Cas. I guess we are stuck with Rankin for next season, he isn't a bad player, we have had much worse than him

Re: Rankin
If for 2020, both Tautai and Rankin are on our books taking quota spots up, I will be very disappointed.
It's as bad as when we had 3 wingers taking up quota spots. 2 of them barely played either.

Re: Rankin
Competition for places, injuries always an issue too, Shenny had a few spells out and Blair had injury issues in past, Shenny started his career on wing, stuey wrote:We have Shenton & Blair at centre, are we going to leaveone of them out?Danny Boy wrote:Lot of versatility, could provide us with a Luke Dorn type solution at full back, maybe Peanut to centre, we need depth in our back line.

Re: Rankin
Rankin has been injured, hardly played , won’t be in first 17 when all fit, takes up a quota spot.
Nailed on 3 year deal then
On a serious note I don’t feel we have seen enough from him in the time he has played to offer a deal. Not the players fault but we have gambled enough recently, lessons should have been learned.

Re: Rankin
Rankin has some ability and can cover from time-to-time when/if needed but this should epitomise the direction we take from now on; no more journey men but class, first choice players.

Re: Rankin
No
Doesn't have a set position. A Ryan McGoldrick type player. Can't have someone taking a decent salary and a quota spot for that.
Use it for specialist players in their positions.
If our squad is fully fit. He doesn't get a look in. Not even as waterboy.

Re: Rankin
I don't want a player on our books that doesn't want to be here sat waiting out his contract so if we have to retain Rankin for another year, who actually does want to be here, so be it.
He offers good cover for half-back and to be honest, with Aston shining through I think it may be wise of us to let Ellis go a year early if we can and keep 4 halves on our books.
Also can play in other positions if we're desperate without putting pressure on people like Turner to come in.

Re: Rankin
If Huddersfield coach thinks so much of Wardle and I remember him saying he wished he'd got 12 more Wardles in his team why don't we play it cute and say he's coming back unless you pay us some money for him ?
