I was there, virtually at ground level behind the sticks where we scored the tries.
Every kid wanted to be Chuck Hardisty! I wonder if today's kids want to be a Cas player, and if so, which one?

Times like this you learn everyone's age.

Except OCL, who is older than everyone. ;) ;) :D

I was 13 so easy to work my age out.
Sadly I couldn’t go as I broke my ankle the Sunday before.

Took my girlfriend of the time, on a Wallace Arnold bus, there and back in the day, great times for the club, Cas had finally arrived on the biggest stage with a team, that on its day, could compete with and beat any team in the league!

I was working in Manchester at the time, went down to Wembley on the train with my girlfriend - now my wife. Returned on the train Sunday which happened to have the Salford team on. Walked down Market Street which was lined with Salford fans waiting to welcome the open top bus with the Salford team on. I was wearing my Cas hat and rosette which my girlfriend begged me to take off. Kept them on all the way down Market Street and got lots of cheers and complements from the Salford fans. Fantastic feeling and a memorable weekend.

I was 7 in 1969 so all I can remember is 'High Speed Cas' posters in every other house in the Townville Pit estate. Was there a different poster for 1970? Or am I mixing it all up?

Hi speed Cas, 80 minutes to Glory and a few others. Think I’ve got one or two stashed away somewhere

What a day it was, twelve year old me with a white rosette and a pack a mack and I remember it was boiling hot. The whole family on the early train down. Not sure how many times we came from behind in that cup run but it were a fair few,it was as if it was meant to be and the H bombs,Reilly and co did the job. Magic magic day and even managed to get lost on the underground lol. Treasured memory with my old dad and one day, hopefully before I join him I'll see that chuffing brick I bought in his memory in the wall at the new stadium.
