Roby
Percival
Naiqama

Its probly a good thing for us sts won, no one is going to catch sts so id rather they had the 2pts instead of Salford and last thing we need is a sts backlash next week.

Re: Magic weekend
Thompsons done ankle ligaments so will miss Magic Weekend. Zeb Taia should also be looking at least a game ban for that swinging arm. Roby and Naiqama will be back. Not heard anything about Percival, but saw Saints fans tweeting him asking if he'd be back for Sunday, so possibly injured.jackknife wrote:Off top of my headTamworth Tiger wrote:Yes but they were only missing Roby , not Gale plus half the first team squad too!

Re: Magic weekend
of the players that Saints have on the side lines Roby is the player that makes them tick I cant think when he as had an off day against CAS I am hoping he as been keeping it for next week
Re: Magic weekend
having watched Saints a number of times their defence is top draw coming in a solid wall and no one coming out of the line, a kick just behind this line could make them think, when we had Alan Hardisty playing against this type of defence he used to exploit it to the full

Said that loads of times gateman, any team who charges up, you have to have a plan B.
It might just put a but if doubt in there minds.
we don’t seem to do it, it does frustrate me sometimes, would love to see us get into teams faces instead of letting them come to us.
Re: Magic weekend
Go out and play like we know they can and anything is possible.Salford weren't that far away last night so it is doable.

Re: Magic weekend
Saints were missing Roby, Thompson , Percival and LMS so as many starters as Cas had missing at Leeds.Tamworth Tiger wrote:Yes but they were only missing Roby , not Gale plus half the first team squad too!
Re: Magic weekend
we are going to miss Jesse I am wondering if Oliver Holmes will be ready to come back ??
Re: Magic weekend
Doesn't offer enough in attack for me. How long is Moors out for?gateman wrote:we are going to miss Jesse I am wondering if Oliver Holmes will be ready to come back ??
Re: Magic weekend
I suppose it boils down to a matter of opinions mate I rate Oliver with Jesse having to leave we need body's back it would be good news if goth Moors and Holmes were fit I cant see Foster being ready anytime soon

Re: Magic weekend
I think your Normanton link gets the better of you here. I'm also from Normy and went to Freston at the same time as him but I think where he can be solid in defence he just doesn't have enough outwide to make us a threat like Meeks and Jesse.gateman wrote:I suppose it boils down to a matter of opinions mate I rate Oliver with Jesse having to leave we need body's back it would be good news if goth Moors and Holmes were fit I cant see Foster being ready anytime soon

Re: Magic weekend
They're also constantly offside. Especially that young Matty Lees who seems to always fly out of the line looking for big hits.gateman wrote:having watched Saints a number of times their defence is top draw coming in a solid wall and no one coming out of the line, a kick just behind this line could make them think, when we had Alan Hardisty playing against this type of defence he used to exploit it to the full
Re: Magic weekend
I will go along with you with Meeks and Jesse being our preferred 2nd row both have been on top of their games in recent weeks, but we need a replacement for Jesse so its no bad shout to have an England Knights player to stand in
Re: Magic weekend
Saints are very, very organised in defence so the only way to attack is to play off the cuff, such as off loads at every opportunity and chip kicks to make them wonder what’s going to happen next and upset their d formation.
But energy is also key. Allowing them to control the ruck is a recipe for disaster. Cas players need to struggle to get to their feet when tackled, so the ref sees that Sts are trying to slow down the play of the ball.
Overall we may as well try something different as our normal game as our previous efforts have been remarkably unsuccessful!

Problem is that playing off the cuff against saints is lethal.orrsome wrote:Saints are very, very organised in defence so the only way to attack is to play off the cuff, such as off loads at every opportunity and chip kicks to make them wonder what’s going to happen next and upset their d formation.

I don’t see the harm in trying something different though as we’ve been beaten by them for several seasons now.Dez wrote:Problem is that playing off the cuff against saints is lethal.orrsome wrote:Saints are very, very organised in defence so the only way to attack is to play off the cuff, such as off loads at every opportunity and chip kicks to make them wonder what’s going to happen next and upset their d formation.

No side likes having to attempt tackle after tackle when the other team is off-loading as its very tiring. If we get beaten, at least we will have tried something different, rather than our usual game that never gets results anyway.

Re: Magic weekend
From watching Saints games on Sky this year, Salford looked like the first team to really take it to Saints this year. They threw the ball around and had a game plan. If you play Saints at their own game and play rugby, they struggle. They want teams to go down the middle against their big pack, they will win pretty much every time. Think it's time we went for it Sunday and get the ball wide.
