Wow, I'd no idea.
To finish last in the Tour de France, first you must finish.

Posted on here ages ago that Luke was within touching distance of the record. Also posted on Facebook today when luke broke the record. I think he will go on to set a record that none of us will see bettered.

Not far off Sammy Lloyd's goals in a season either.

Luke has kicked 139 goals and 8 drop goals this season. The record is 158 but not sure if that includes dropped goals

Been a class signing.
Weird how no one sings anything about him on.the terraces.
Even Michael Wainwright still gets sung about. But Galey, triple back to back AG winner, heart beat of the team, club points record holder, doesn't get whisper :-k

It is a great achievement because teams played 40-odd games in the eighties, 16 teams in first division plus loads of chances to play 2nd division teams in yorkshire cup, john player and challenge cup. Plus the odd game against amateur teams.
So to break such a long standing record playing exclusively against SL teams and in 30 matches says a lot about how dominant cas have been this year.

I'm not for one minute knocking the achievement but things are a little bit easier for goal kickers now. they have the modern lightweight balls and the personalised kicking tee's. back in the day the old balls probably weighed 3 times more than the modern ones and we didn't even have runners coming on with the bucket of sand. just made a hole with your heel to stand the old leather ball in.

Good points. Additionally, kickers are all "round the corner", so no slice (Poor Don Fox), underfoot conditions better because of summer rugby, and if any stats man can confirm it, more tries scored nowadays. When you watch those old games that Di posts, tacklers can slow the game down and it just seems that tries were harder to come by. In 1960, Saints scored 900 + points from 38 games, but there was no divisional structure so top teams played poorer teams more regularly.
I suppose the true measure of a kicker will be percentages, which makes Sneyd a better kicker than Luke, for example.

I disagree. Much depends on the style of the team and where the tries are scored.
Hull score a good proportion of their tries centrally and not on the edges.
One look at our top tryscorers shows we score a significant number of tries out wide.
As such, Gale is taking far more difficult conversions than Sneyd.

Good points.

Hull's top try scorer is Kelly, which suggests nearer the posts. Fanua has 10, Tuimavave 11, so fewer than Cas out wide.

If you had to have Sneyd v Gale, 10 kicks each from all positions to pay your mortgage, which would you choose?

I'll go with that, Gale on our minuscule pitch and Sneyd on their enormous one!

Magnificent! Well done LG.

I'm sure Galey will be the first to acknowledge the efforts of the squad around him.
