Best player of the last decade.
Best player of the last decade.
I have a list of three that make it of constant players over the last ten years that have been great for this club. It’s the three ‘M’s Massey, Millington and Milner with a special mention for Danny Orr as a player/coach can anyone pick another who has done more for this club in playing in the last ten years I’d like to know. My pick is Massey so underrated played through the pain barrier and just continued to give his all as long as he’s played. A great maybe not. But class all the same.

Michael Shenton.
Led the club through a period from relegation candidates to topping the league.
Captained the club to a cup final and grand final.
Consistently one if the best players in the team.

I can’t see where the OP calling Massey a great player. He says he’s been great for the club, which I would agree with.
I’d add Oliver Holmes to that list also. Hard to believe that he is still only 27.

I'd go Gale for shorter period Holmes for longer period still think he's underrated a lot if he's fully fit hed be close to my England squad

Grant Millington, quite easily.
When he signed we were in an absolute mess on and off the field. He had every right to see his 2 years out and f*** off back home once done. Yet, he stuck around and has been arguably, in that time, one of our greatest over seas signings we've had.
Honourable mentions for Luke Gale, Paul McShane and Michael Shenton.

Grant Millington for the same reasons as heritage1926 has said above. I've said it before and I'll say it again - if anyone deserves a testimonial year before he hangs up his boots its Millington.

He deserves silerware before them boots are hung up. He's put his hand up time and time again and played when injured. If anyone in this current team deserves to sit back and admire a Super League ring, it's absolutely Grant.derbystiger wrote: ↑08 Jul 2020, 12:31 Grant Millington for the same reasons as heritage1926 has said above. Jake Webster should be on the list for me.
In the spirit of the final Blackadder episode - Goooodbyeee!

Millington.
A really thoroughly lovely genuine bloke too who I can imagine is worth his weight in gold off the field as well as on it.
I might shed a tear if he won a ring.

Luke Gale by an absolute country mile.
The sideline conversion after the hooter.. then the drop goal 5 minutes later to win the biggest game in our League history (at the time) was legendary.
Add to that.. Dream team scrum half three years running, capped off with Man of steel award.
Colossal.

Millo, he as been brilliant for us, no matter
where he played
where he played
Re: Best player of the last decade.
Without Hardaker we would have never made it to OT. A lot of people seem to forget that. I would much rather see our little club called Cas at OT and lose rather than never get there.
I'm fuming with what happened in the end but he gave us a great season and we saw the best rugby we have seen at Cas between him and Gale.
Re: Best player of the last decade.
Agree with everything you say Swagger. However, I believe that ZH “biggest impact” happened not on the rugby field. His failed test rocked the club to its core 2 days before the biggest day in our existence. That doesn’t take away what a joy he was for 99% of his time in a Cas shirt. I’ll particularly remember his tries against Leeds and Catalans, both away.Swagger wrote: ↑10 Jul 2020, 22:19Without Hardaker we would have never made it to OT. A lot of people seem to forget that.
