Re: Jeremy Corbyn new Labour leader Lol
There is no doubt there will be a big bill to pay and yes, the very wealthy will have to up their share.
However, whilst I accpet that many will be living on reduced, or even no, income at the moment, for those that are receiving income, there's very little to spend it on whilst we're in 'lockdown'. Any business that suvives this awful situation may be well placed to see a big spending spree that could well boost the economy.
A similar effect occured following the Second World at the end of rationing, during the fifties, but only time will tell whether enough of us will have the appetite.

There’s going to be some real pain to come!
The average UK household debt is in excess of £15k, people who are unable/unwilling to live within their means. Well I hope they have enjoyed their 2 foreign holidays a year and the latest OLED tv’s...
it’s now payback time
Reap the whirlwind!

Your enjoyment of the pains of others is baffling but I've no doubt BJ and Rashi Sunak will target those with plenty of cash to dispose of, as indeed they should. The working man will not accept the selfish few retaining all the cash.alftupper wrote: ↑30 Mar 2020, 14:33 There’s going to be some real pain to come!

another day and more eye watering figures. I can’t help feeling the financial cost of this pandemic is more shocking than the human cost.
Today for example BA furloughing 36,000 staff. Just do the maths on that...
Ok some will be on less than £30k per annum but let’s say each will receive government money of £2,500 / month each
that’s £90m/month for just one company
even allowing for some lower paid workers it’s still a shocking number.

The economic aftermath of all this is potentially going to be catastrophic and could be total carnage for lots in society with massive issues looming large !
However, there is a train of thought that is going around on social media that the few rich family cartels like the Rothschilds etc that are controlling the world with vast fortunes and governments in hock to them may be about to be broken up as I perceive all this borrowing will never ever be paid back and the governments who borrow against them will break them over this which, has been tried before. This time it might succeed and Power is returned to the actual representatives of the people and not be in hock to these rich cartels - every silver lining !
Let's Hope !

anybody think HS2 will still be going ahead?
Re: Jeremy Corbyn new Labour leader Lol
Alf, I would need to fill a full 2 pager to explain all about what is apparently really going on these past 2 to 3 hundred years which harps right the way back when King William in 1694 was broke and borrowed off rich families to fund his war and where they have now become very powerful behind the façade or front that the common people now only see - stock markets are influenced and controlled by shady goings on where stocks are dumped by powerful people when high and then bought back low when prices have collapsed and then make millions !! All Banks are privately owned didn't you know and there are about 13 families like Rockefeller/Rothschilds who have accrued Trillions controlling practically everything in the world today !
Apparently, There has been attempts to try to wrestle control and have failed - Kennedy was apparently one and Reagan was the other who tried, one dead and one survived attempted murder. It's all conjecture without proof !
Apparently, in a nutshell, there is now a chance to do this as Trump has just signed off 2 Trillion Dollars and put enormous pressure on the Federal Reserve which in turn might bring the Rich Families down finally when the people and governments haven't got a dime to pay all these type of loans back and the Fed cannot satisfy the rich loaners anymore.
If all this is indeed true, and I'm not saying that it is, it bodes well for the common man where the wealth will finally be distributed in a much fairer manner than having a few rich families sat on Trillions and enrich all our lives !!
Re: Jeremy Corbyn new Labour leader Lol
Looks like Corbyn’s leadership is sputtering out almost unnoticed. I was expecting at least a brief tribute by the forum Corbynistas and some recognition as to where their political hero has lead the Party in his 4 and a half years at the helm!
Re: Jeremy Corbyn new Labour leader Lol
Looking likely Sir Keir Starmer will be new leader tomorrow. Probably the best of a bad bunch to make Labour electable again.

Starmer it is then, a man with the charisma of a piece of 4’’x2’’ a steady hand but it’s a very long haul back and little prospect of him becoming PM
The chav from Manchester will however provide us with continued comedy value I feel as she takes up the Deputy Leader role

Re: Jeremy Corbyn new Labour leader Lol
Anything can happen between now and the next election though. Who would have predicted since the start of this thread we would have seen Cameron go, May in and then out, 2 elections and Boris as PM.
Re: Jeremy Corbyn new Labour leader Lol
Idiots, dangerous morons, fantasists, I could go on.
the sheep that feed on the rubbish that goes around social media could be more dangerous than the global pandemic.
Apparently the latest tosh is that 5G comms masts are responsible for spreading covid-19 and there have been reports of masts being damaged and destroyed in the UK as a result. Just idiots, it is frightening the nonsense peddled on social media taken as fact by a significant number of our population.
its not 5G phone masts, the CIA, the bilderberb group the illuminati or Santa Claus.

Labour / Momentum churned out their fair share of propaganda, so why did people turn away from Labour? Nothing to do with their policies or leader?Flat Capper wrote: ↑04 Apr 2020, 23:24 And a lot of those I see on social media shariing these ridiculous stories are the same ones that turned away from Labour at the last election and alor previously voted for Brexit.

Anyway Capper now we have a left of centre Labour leader where does this leave you with your hard left persuasion? Back to Arthur’s Socialist Labour Party possibly?

Not like you to either miss hte point or try diversionary tactics but to help you understnd my point. The people on social media that you refer to as "idoits, dangerous morans and fantasists" appear to be the same folk that walked away from Labour and the EU. If the cap fits and all that.alftupper wrote: ↑05 Apr 2020, 12:30Labour / Momentum churned out their fair share of propaganda, so why did people turn away from Labour? As for the new Labour leader, just like the last one I'll await his policies to see if they align closer to my own thoughts and give me the best option at an election. I certainly can't see him becoming a selfish, money grabbing, poverty driving Tory, so there's every possiblity he'll get my support.
