Re: [Match Discussion] Catalans next
It’s plain to see the camaraderie at the Jungle now after seemingly it being suggested that some players didn’t like the style of play under Lee Radford. The defence particularly was outstanding against Catalans who may not relish the return to the Jungle on the 12th August in one of our loop matche...

Re: Cas fan
I’ve always had stickers on the back of my cars for Cas, Boro, Hartlepool United and Yorkshire CCC, but once in Gairloch , Wester Ross in Scotland someone left a short note on my windscreen wipers which simply said ‘Classy Cas’. But the weirdest was on a boat from Corfu to Albania from someone weari...

Re: Challenge cup final
I don’t know whether it was an optical illusion but the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looked too wide for me making conversion kicks from the touchlines much more difficult. Wigan were poor and I’d rather have seen a Yorkshire club lift the Cup be it the Giants if necessary. Will Wigan’s win make it mor...

To be fair golfer Andrew Coltart is always complimentary about Lee Westwood his ex-brother-in-law who went through an acrimonious divorce with Coltart’s sister Andreas.

Re: Gv Smith medal
The Gv Smith medal is one of three awarded to Private Gilbert Vernon Smith from Cardiff awarded to him during his service with the East Surrey Regiment during the First World War. What it has to do with Rugby League I don’t know, but suffice to say that the holder of all 3 medals as a set are valued...

Re: [Match Discussion] Leeds Easter Monday
I’ve always liked Jon Wilkins up to yesterday. But his obvious bias wanting Leeds to win yesterday was inappropriate, and his recollection that Cas were noted for ball-stealing on the tackle was outrageous, and ought to be sacked by Sky for that one comment alone.

Re: three matches in eight days
Three matches in 8 days was no problem in the late 1940s, in fact most teams played 3 matches in 4 days at Christmas and again at Easter. In fact in 1947 Cas played 3 games in 3 consecutive days at Christmas in 1947 losing 4-13 at Wakefield on Christmas Day a Thursday, beat Featherstone 13-11 at hom...

I think that the final score flattered Cas. Lucky not to have conceded 50 points.

Re: Hull KR Quarter Final
Does anyone remember the Challenge Cup replay in March 1967 when Cas beat Hull KR 13-6 in an afternoon match at Wheldon Road where the unofficial attendance was given as 22,582 although there must have been several thousand more? Although Cas had floodlights Hull KR refused to play under them so the...

Re: Gregory: Pecking order of Cas wingers
I think Kirk Dixon was the first winger to score from a mid-air position after hitting the corner flag was deemed irrelevant. I think it occurred at Magic Weekend but can’t remember the opponents though possibly Wakefield.

Re: [Match Discussion] Leeds (A) cup
That wasn’t just a win, it was an annihilation. Agreed that the Rhinos were poor, but surely this is the Cas we were promised pre-season. Keep up the improved discipline and I can see Cas handing out a few more thrashings this year. At last we have pace throughout the team and the only reason that w...

Re: Challenge Cup Should we bother really ?
Stokie, there’s nothing better than winning the FA Cup or Rugby League Challenge Cup. For me it’s the pinnacle of the sport. I’ve been there when Cas have won the trophy 3 times, had my photo taken holding the Cup high in the boardroom, and only seen them lose once at Wembley against Wigan ironicall...
