Re: Cards

It seems that, reading the minutes, It was Hooleys fault that Harry Smith dumped him on his head.and owing to Ellis not being mentioned, Hooleys fault he got smacked around the head. Maybe they should ban Hooley.

Re: Cards

Ellis was direct to the head of Hooley. Like I said earlier, most of these decisions will find inconsistencies and will only create controversy. I can understand why they are trying to protect heads, but in a game like rugby, they are trying to do the impossible. Dupree charges in head down head fir...

Re: Cards

The problem we have now is the requirement for forensic examination of each incident. Even then, everyone has a different opinion. Listening to pundits from BBC and Sky proves that. I await the disciplinary meeting outcomes this week, they may need a long meeting. With Wigan having a big game next w...

Re: Mick Morgan

i was watching the darts at (i think it was) Alexandra Palace over Christmas & someone held a poster up with "ah cant spake" on it, it must have been a cas fan? One of the darts commentators said “I can’t speak!” The other one corrected him to “I can’t spake!” One of them clearly didn...

Re: Mick Morgan

An excellent article. I’m pleased it references the impact that ex-league pro’s are having on top level RU, having experienced the condescending attitude of RU to RL prior to professionalisation of Union. It surmounted to ridicule from some quarters. Those supporters over 35 will not understand it.

Re: Best Cas try

Loads of good memories and great tries. I think that the importance of the game situation should come into the reckoning. The earlier post about the Schick try at Leeds springs to mind,, when we were in a hotel room at the time, and we jumped up and down so much one of the staff rushed upstairs to i...

Re: Best Cas try

1969, Feb 15, Cas v Wigan second round of cup, 12-8. Alan “Chuck” Hardisty intercepts and scores from distance during a spell of Wigan dominance. Memorable because we got to Wembley for the first time since 1935. That morning we’d cleared straw from the ground. Bill Ashurst slid his knees into Chuck...

Re: games of yesteryear

I’m not sure that the 10 meter rule is responsible for changing the game. I think it is the way that teams are coached. The analysis, the statistics, the tactics etc have changed it. Now coaches talk about the “process”, and the game now resembles the “set plays” percentage low risk game designed t...

if he reads some of the posts on here he will be wondering what he as let him self in for, sit back and see how things pan out then make judgement is my view Can't find one post where anyone is saying it's not a good thing and just what we needed Exactly, it seems we just don’t want good news.

When I was a kid every game was Saturday afternoon. If Cas were in Lancashire, we had to wait for the Green ‘un to get a halftime score, or if you were lucky, the full time score in the “stop press”. Things have moved on.

Re: Work on main stand

Hi OCL, I thought it was Laport that caused the foam on the river around air street & Alsions Most of the foam was caused by the woollen mills miles upstream from Cas. They washed wool with detergent, it came downstream and Allison’s weir agitated the water and made foam and windy weather distr...
