Re: Shenton

I recall playing Bradford at home when Shenny shot out of the line and absolutely smashed Paul Deacon as he took the pass. Deacon’s face was an absolute mess as they helped him off.
Think it was the game that Rangi won for us at the back end.

Re: Mike McMeekan

Can’t think offhand of forwards who have made it big in RU, the skills are very different. Sam Burgess failed (actually, he was shafted!). Andy Farrell played mainly in the backs, the ones who made it were backs. Not sure what Sonny Bill played first, but he’s a freak! In his defence, he's played U...

Re: Pre season injuries.

He’s rolled his ankle, which I used to do playing tig and pass up Cutsyke Crest. Nothing to do with conditioning team, thing happen.

Re: Johnny Ward

I seem to remember he was the landlord of a pub somewhere in the Cas area. I also think that he played for Salford against Cas in the 1969 Challenge Cup Final, but more famously remembered for his displays for Cas in the Floodlight Trophy wins. Also a member of the touring GB side to Australia. Tou...

Re: Rob Burrow

Terrible news. Knowing Rob as I have since childhood, he’ll do as he always does, fight like hell. Good luck Rob.

Re: friendly's

How can WR be “charmingly crumbling”?

It’s simply crumbling, as I am, with no hint of charm.

“Hanging by a thread crumbling”. Loved by most Cas fans, as one loves a decrepit Great-Grandad.

Re: Dennis Hartley

was there the first time he played for Cas. In those days the front of the main stand was standing. A bloke used to come to wind up the locals, I think he was a Fev fan. When the team ran out he shouted out" £4.750 for a tub of lard" Some tub, some lard! Incidentally a very young Roger Milward used...

Re: test side

Makes you wonder what Watts has to do. Only forward in MOS short list, repeated MOM, more meters, tackles, minutes than most forwards.
