In a hard fought and well played match, Cas' hopes of a win were killed in the 80th minute when Warrington's, Louis Anderson crossed the line, helped along the way by the Gleeson brothers.
Cas' were 31-30 a head with only minutes left on the clock but had their seventh loss in eight games sprung on them in the last minute of play.
Warrington were the stronger side to start with and were very quickly up to 12-0 which only seemed to inspire Cas' youngster Joe Westerman as he collected three tries throughout the remainder of the game.
Tigers winger, Adam Fletcher was also bundled into touch after some clever play from Westerman and Sherwin.
With only minutes to go before half time, Wolves took the lead once again after Martin Gleeson popped one over which was then goaled by Chris Hicks making the score at half-time 18-12
The first points of the second half were to belong to Cas' after Aussie McGoldrick and Peter Lupton assisted in getting 18 year old Richard Owen over the line, which was then converted by Joe Westerman putting the two teams level at 18 points-a-piece.
At 53 minutes the game swung back into Warringtons corner after Mark Gleeson ran over the line after a fantastic run by King.
Just two minutes later and everything looked to be going horribly wrong for Cas' when the Wolves put another try down in the form of Vinnie Anderson, Hicks then kicked his hat-trick goal to give the Wolves a 30-18 lead.
The game was far from over when Cas' added two superb tries, one from Westerman, to give him his hat-trick and in the 73rd minute Westerman converted his own try to make the scores level at 30 points each.
The game looked all but over when Brent Sherwin added a drop-goal from 25 yards out to give Cas' that one point edge with just 3 minutes left on the clock. However in the 80th minute Warrington got that killer try to make the score at full time, Castleford Tigers 31, Warrington Wolves, 34
Tigers Head Coach had the following to say in his post match reaction,
"We were pipped at the post but the effort from our guys was great."
"When you are at the bottom of the table it is a battle. We are down to the bare bones with our squad and everything is against us."
"I heard Stuart Cummings on the radio say he is happy with referees. If he is happy he is watching different stuff.
"I don't mind getting beaten in a fair way but that wasn't fair today."
Finally, Matterson, summed his feelings up with the following statement, "I was pleased with the way our players reacted after half-time. I was disappointed for them because they are a hard-working group who deserved a result today."
