Usually, a 12 point scoreline difference against Wigan at the JJB Stadium would be deemed a generous reflection of any side’s efforts. Well, tonight, that was not the case. In fact, the way Cas played throughout the match suggested that Wigan were lucky to grab anything more than a narrow win. At times, even a victory was on the cards for a enthusiastic and determined Cas side.

Eleven and a half minutes into the game, Catalans got the score moving with a penalty goal by Thomas Bosc. This was the fourth penalty given to the Dragons, three of these were given away in the first nine minutes of the match.
At twelve minutes, referee, Phil Bentham had to have a look at the ‘Video Ref’ only to call “No Try” for the Catalans Dragons.
Ten minutes later and the first try of Superleague 13 at the Jungle was put over the line by Stuart Donlan, putting the Tigers in the lead with 4 points to 2. A clean conversion by, 19 year-old, Joe Westerman put Cas’ even further into the lead. At thirty-four minutes Cas’ second try came from Micky Shenton and an easy conversion from Westerman made the score 12-02 to Cas’. This was the score at the end of the first forty.
A disappointing second half started just five minutes into the half with a try from Gregory Mounis for the Dragons which was then converted by Bosc. Seven minutes later, Catalans were getting used to the feel of the Cas’ try line and were over it again followed by Thomas Bosc’s second conversions of the match, making the score now 12-14 to the Dragons. The Tigers response came just five minutes later with a penalty goal from Joe Westerman, the third time this match he had kicked the ball between the sticks. This evened the score out and the Tigers’ looked to be fighting back.

Hull Handed Win
Image Courtesy of Dave Williams, RLPhotos.comHull were the first one's across the line at Craven Park with Stand-Off, Scott Murrell crossing the line just twelve minutes into the game, the twenty-three year-old then went on to convert his own try leaving Cas' trailing by 6 points.
However only eight minutes later, things looked a bit more promising when our number 3, Michael Shenton grounded one over the line, unfortunately this wasn't converted, leaving Cas' 2 points short of the Robins.
An agonizing ten minutes went by before Stuart Donlan went under the sticks to make it 8-6 then a neat conversion from young-lad Joe Westerman made the score 10-6, with no further action, this was the score at half time.

Defeat at Dewsbury
The Tigers' acadamy lads lost in a disappointing clash against Dewsbury Rams. Dewsbury darted over and added their first 4 points just 4 minutes into the match, from then on the Rams just kept flying over the line, adding a further 36 points in the remaining 36 minutes, making it 40-0 at half time, working out at a point a minute.
The Rams then added a further 20 points in the second fourty, without a Cas' response. The score at full time, Castleford 0, Dewsbury 60.
Dewsbury played a strong first team, with the likes of Tom Colleran, Bryn Powel and Andy Bostock on at the starting line-up. Dewsbury also debuted Chris Langley, Mark Field and David Rourke. A hard fought game for the Cas' acadamy which to be honest, went the way everyone expected it too.
