In a shocking first half Cas looked weak with the first four points going to Huddersfield with Robinson crossing the line, under the sticks, just 7 minutes into the game, the try converted by Thorman. Just 3 minutes later and Huddersfield extended their lead, this time in the form of Jenson, Thorman made it 12-0 by adding the conversion.
Cas pulled their first four points 18 minutes into the game with Michael Wainwright diving over the line and Westerman made it 12-6 by converting the try.
A short break came immediatly after the Cas try when Huddersfield's Robinson was the result of an injury, stretchers were bought on and Robinson was put in a neck brace, although he managed to walk off the pitch so the injury can't have been too serious,
Kevin Brown for the Giants crossed the line at 23 minutes to add another four, an easy conversion from Chris Thorman made the score 18-6. Things carried on getting worse for the Tigers with tries from Snitch and Elford going over the line with the try from Snitch being converted making the score at Half Time, Huddersfield Giants, 28, Castleford Tigers, 6.
Three tries in less than 9 minutes for the Giants in the forms of Chris Thorman, Jamahl Lolesi and Paul Whaturia and with two further conversions from Thorman made the score 44-6 just 10 minutes into the second half.
Luke Robinson made a suprise re-entry to the field and with that, Lolisi crossed the line yet again adding a further four points to the Giants score, Chris Thorman missing the conversion keeps the score at 48 points to Huddersfield and just 6 to Cas'.
A small peice of good news came for the Cas' fans, however far too late into the game, when Peter Lupton dived over the Giants line adding Cas' second try of the game. A second conversion from Joe Westerman made the score 48-12.
Huddersfield were suspected of a knock on in the sixty-seventh minute, however Richard Silverwood waved play on, the Giants capitalised on this and popped another try over the line which was converted by Thorman yet again, making the score 56-12. Castleford's defence was broken down again 4 minutes later which allowed Huddersfield to put their eleventh try of the game over the try line followed by a neat conversion making the gap even larger, at 60 points to Huddersfield and 12 to Castleford.
In a last minute burst from Huddersfield, Andy Raleigh crossed the line 78 minutes into the game making the score at full-time, Huddersfield 64, Castleford Tigers 12.
A disappointing game from Castleford leaves them at the bottom of the Superleague table. Adam, for casforum.co.uk
Post Match Thoughts
Not even the most optimistic Cas fan could draw out the slightest positive from a complete and utter hammering at the hands of a side that were below us in the table before todays match kicked off. A destruction by a Giants team who have failed to post any big scores on our club for a long time and did nothing special enough to rack up a result like today. That match was a disgrace on Cas Tigers.
After an encouraging display at Wigan last week, there was no sign of what was to come when even a late re-shuffle saw Sherwin sit out the game injured, and a half-back combination of Peter Lupton and Anthony Thackeray fail to offer any direction to a poor and woeful attack. In fact, based on this performance, there is some real serious concerns that must be addressed before the Harlequins match in a weeks time - not least the real major need for some immidiate back up in the form of extra personnel to boost our depleted, young and physically incapable squad.
Quite simply, today we were outmuscled, outfought, outsmarted and outenthused by a basic Huddersfield side who did nothing spectacular - merely tackling hard and attacking intelligently. They exploited the gaps easily and worked together as a team - with individuals finishing off some great moves.
What is the most disturbing however, is the failure for Cas to build on last weeks encouraging display and instead look like all the passion had been drained and any smartness sitting in Brent Sherwin's hands on the sideline. Even an encouraging display from Richard Owen wasn't enough to prevent a demoralising and frankly disgusting display that rightly brought some boos from the loyal fans who are starting to wear thin on patience with our inability to go out and recruit high profile players to bolster the team. Youngsters will only go so far with effort and passion; quality will take us all the way.
There is no need to comment on the actual match - the scoreline says it all. Cas looked like a junior side, whereas Huddersfield were proffesional, intelligent and efficient. There is no reason to suggest that this game indicates our season is over, it could even be the opposite, however it does suggest that we need to sort out the problems we have, and fast.
The time for talking has stopped, the time for bemoaning our injury luck now over; from this point forward the lads who pull on the shirt have to stand up, be counted and take this club to where it needs to be. Cut out the rubbish and play like men, otherwise don't bother walking out onto the pitch and disgracing our team who we follow so passionately wherever that may be. Normylad
