Matterson picking from strength

Terry Matterson could have virtually a full squad to pick from this weekend for the Tigers' local derby game against Wakefield Wildcats, in the second-year of the manufactured Millennium Magic weekend.

Still missing is forward Mark Leafa, and he is joined on the sidelines by Peter Lupton who faces a lay-off after suffering a facial injury.

However, the Tigers have the rest of the squad available for selecton including new signing and ex-Wakefield man, Ned Catic, who should play permitting his work permit arrives in time.

It is also expected that fellow new signing, Brendan Hlad, will also keep his place in the side, after making a solid debut last weekend in Perpignan.

Fans not visiting Cardiff for the weekend are reminded that the game is live on Sky Sports.

Chambers announcement expected next week

Dwain Chambers, the former Great Britain athlete who joined the Tigers on trial a month ago, will have to wait until next week to find out whether he has won a contract potentially worth £60,000.

Chambers made his debut last weekend in a friendly versus the York City Knights' reserve side, lasting 39 minutes total in four different spells during the game.

Tigers' Media Manager, David Smart, said to Sporting Life: "Various talks are ongoing with representatives of ourselves and Dwain, plus some of our sponsors, but at this stage there is nothing else to add."

Chambers meanwhile, is set to join his team-mates in Wales for the Millennium Magic weekend in Cardiff.

4 years for McGoldrick

After yesterdays announcement of Joe Westerman's contract extension the Tigers are pleased to announce that Ryan McGoldrick has also signed a 4 year extension.

Speaking on the official website CEO Richard Wight had the following to say: “Ryan has proved himself to be a tremendous capture for this club and we believe this to be a very significant deal for the Tigers. His form this season has been out of the top draw when in almost every game he has played he has been amongst our best competitors. Ryan is certainly something of a character but he has grown to love the club and he is hugely popular with the fans."
