LeagueHQ and The Guardian is reporting that former New Zealand A international and St George-Illawarra Dragons scrum-half or hooker has signed a 2 year deal with the Tigers.

Shenton Ready for World Cup?

Michael Shenton Vs. HarlequinsBBC Sport´s George Riley is confident that the Tiger´s center is just what we need against the Aussie´s, "It takes a special kind of effort to sparkle in a struggling team, but Michael Shenton is making his presence felt at just the right time."

Michael Shenton celebrated his 23rd birthday this week, and is a popular man amongst his Castleford team mates, Tiger´s veteran, Andrew Henderson said, "Shenny is definitely worth a shot... he is definitely in the top four centres in the country."
Castleford gained their Superleague franchise earlier this week, and although Michael is flattered at the attention, he seems to have his priorities in the correct place, he told BBC sport, "The World Cup would be great, I'd love to go there with Joe, every player thinks about playing for their country, so I'd be lying if I said I didn't but I'm concentrating on Cas Tigers at the minute, though."

Shenton put three tries across the line in the Tiger´s burying of Harlequins last weekend.

Tigers awarded 'C' license

The Tigers have been awarded a C grade license from the RFL. All clubs issued with this grade are in danger of relegation come 2011 if significant improvements haven't been made to the application. In our case the stadium is a must. RFL chairman Richard Lewis told the Superleague website: "For clubs who have ambitions for new stadiums, they need to ensure by 2010 when the next licence application process starts, that they are more than just plans. The clubs that have missed out this time round will be even more determined to win a licence in the future."

In addition to us 7 other clubs have also been awarded a C license - Catalans, Celtic, Harlequins, Huddersfield, Hull KR, Salford and Wakefield.

RFL to de-brief Tigers

After a manic couple of days wondering which league we'd be gracing next season the real hard work starts now. Richard Wright is expecting a visit from the RFL soon to talk through any areas that may need improving before 2011, the major hurdle being the stadium.

In addition to this the RFL will release the grades given to each club (A,B or C license) those with a grade C license will be at the most risk come 2011 unless the required steps are taken to improve the application.

In other news Salford City Reds have already started next years recruitment drive by signing 28 year old Cowboys prop Ray Cashmere. Castleford have also stated 2009 recruitment is already in an advanced state with some new signings expected shortly.
