Tiger TV Match Recordings
Anyone any comments about the match day commentaries on Tiger Talk TV.
It seems to alternate between SKY if on TV, and Tigers own commentary team.
Any preferences.
Mick Morgan now on commentary team, it used to be just Dave and Harvey.

Re: Tiger TV Match Recordings
I assume it's because when Sky cover a game Tigers TV will take a feed from them which includes the commentary...so no need to add Harvey, Dave and Mick's commentary.

For me, Harvey has always been the weak link on the radio coverage.Curly tiger wrote:Thought Dave and Harvey did a cracking job think mick spoils it, just my opinion
Doesn't know the players names half the time and constantly being corrected by Dave on who did something.

Agreed. Sometimes he doesn't seem interested.TheSheriff wrote:For me, Harvey has always been the weak link on the radio coverage.Curly tiger wrote:Thought Dave and Harvey did a cracking job think mick spoils it, just my opinion

I can't remember which game it was, think either Salford or Huddersfield away, but he spent most of the second half chomping on an apple, which wasn't the most pleasurable sound through headphones :-&Swagger wrote:Agreed. Re: Tiger TV Match Recordings
Give over. Mick is the one who makes it just about palatable. The older of the two is awful. He (a) doesn’t seem interested (b) makes a handful of basis errors per broadcast and (3) makes listening to the game quite a challenging experience.Curly tiger wrote:Thought Dave and Harvey did a cracking job think mick spoils it, just my opinion
Re: Tiger TV Match Recordings
i think Dave is good, but Micks same old jokes & his nicknames for players spoil the match coverage, time to move on.
Re: Tiger TV Match Recordings
I think Harvey is slowing down a hell of a lot and is doing it fir the love of the game.
Morgy splits opinion. Personally I adore the bloke but take the point. He’d be better utilised in small parts like Stuart Cummings is on sky

The thing I like about morgy is his knowledge of the game, he can spot moves 2 to 3 in advance. A good bloke too.

Re: Tiger TV Match Recordings
I love Morgy and think he's a great guy.
However, part of me wonders whether, as a business, channels like Tigers TV can be better commercially operated. It isn't about fans but also what will get brands wanting to be involved sponsoring segments, being mentioned during match commentary etc. Can we maximise this channel financially and commercially?
Local brands may not be bothered but a bigger brand - would they want it to be more professional in its presentation to be involved? I don't know how many listen to Cas Tigers Radio over say Radio Leeds but we need to be really selling this over BBC Local Radio IMO. They often focus on other games and the more people we can get listening the more likely it is that a few mentions can get some decent exposure for a company.
This is where our Marketing and Commercial Teams need to be working together.

Re: Tiger TV Match Recordings
i remember a well known broadcaster from over the pennies telling me he was dreading working with morgy and thought he was exactly the image rugby league didnt need ,i think that was when he used to do half the commentary on the video and someone representing the other team did the other half of the commentating
i always thought morgy was good value mesen

Re: Tiger TV Match Recordings
The main problem I have with Micks commentary is that if you put on a video from the last 20 years and watch a dvd/stream from last week it’s the same jokes. I’m not fond of his nickname style of commentary either but other people are so.
I would like it if they did matches without commentary at all,Sky as well!!

Last time this ref gave us a penalty gail Platt was on her first husband. Funny when you first hear it but the jokes are getting very tired now. New blood me thinks. Although I do agree micks knowledge of the game is second to none

If that's 10 yards, I'm glad he's not fitting my carpets.

Better when Danny Ward went over from 40 yards v Leeds in 2006derbystiger wrote:That was a classic when widders went nearly the length of the fieldorrsome wrote:After a player makes a break---------'He doesn't go that far on his holidays'
