Cat amongst the pigeons

Well Widnes beaten by London. The other super league clubs will be papping them selves now. Think they would have preferred to see an easy win for Widnes to prove a gulf between the leagues.

to be fair, I would suggest that Widnes lost, London didn't win.

Not detracting from the work Hendo did and Wardy has taken on, it is a big result in the middle 8, every other club will be holding it up.

Enjoyed the 2nd half, was a cup game feeling to it. Widnes are dross for all their names, London for want of a cliché wanted it more, but worry this was their cup final.

Widnes now need to beat the 3 other Championship sides and 1 SL side to be in with a chance of staying up. They are in serious trouble as London and Fax should have been their two ‘gimmes’.

Could be Widnes straight down and another SL side in the MPG with a Championship side.

I would go with:-

Hull KR
Leeds
Toronto
Salford Vs London or Toulouse in MPG

Widnes
Halifax

I now think Toronto will be in the playoffs especially with the trips weekly over the water. They'll play Widnes. It would make the game pretty even if it was in Toronto aswell.

It seems Toronto are making playing against them in Canada very difficult.
Travel arrangements are done through their own travel company. HKR have had their flights sorted by the Canadian club, arriving less than two days before the game, not giving much time to get over jet lag and fit training sessions in. Also a few players needed to apply for visa's and it was arranged by their hosts' to visit the Canadian Embassy for the one to one interviews. When the the players' arrived at the Embassy they were told the meetings'had been cancelled by Toronto, so some players would not be able to go, and therefor a weakened HKR travelling to Canada.
Something to watch out for if they are promoted to super league, teams to make sure players have a visa, and flights arranged earlier than two days prior to playing.

If Toronto are playing those sort of games they should award the points to the opposition. Simple for the ruling body to deal with if they dare

They are apparently narked that the authorities haven’t agreed to them playing all their home games in one block and feel that all the travelling disadvantages them!

The Canadian Embassy is nothing to do with Toronto nor are they organised by them.

It is upto the clubs to sort out their own arrangements - all Toronto do is pay for travel and accommodation. If clubs aren't happy, source and pay for it themselves.

Thanks. My post was on the basis of what the authorities should do if Toronto were playing games as intimated earlier in the thread

Hudds where do you apply for visas to visit a country where it is needed ? That countries Embassy. Some players needed to have a personal interview before being granted a visa, it was arranged by Toronto to their countries Embassy, then cancelled by the club.
The Sports travel company that does all the travel arrangements for the RL ( they are term contracted) have just booked HKR for overnight stay at an hotel in Manchester, prior to flying to Canada, paid by HKR.

I believe Toronto have recommended a Canadian company to visiting clubs about their visa requirements. Toronto have had no involvement other than that. I’ve seen the company mentioned a few times on Twitter by fans.

All of KRs squad have been granted their visas, get the feeling a lot this visa talk is just being spread to paint Toronto in a negative light by those who don't like the concept.

I quite like the concept but don't like the idea of sides going over there with only 15 players, it shows the sport in a very bad amateurish light.

As much as a side in Wales only playing with 14 men and getting tonked 0-130 you mean? (Or 144-0 away from home by the same team earlier this year)

Championship clubs have known the fixtures much longer and have had longer to prepare for the trip. Their excuses are their own doing for me.

If I read correctly, online visa applications cost about £7 each. So why don't all the clubs invest £200 or so and apply for visas for their entire squads ?
Obviously some players may be refused, but at least the clubs would have plenty of time to decide whether to send them to the embassy or have a plan B and rest players x and y for the Toronto game.
Or is that too easy ?

Thing is the Canadian Authorities have strong guidelines on previous convictions no matter how minor.
Clubs can get around this my landing in the USA and driving over the boarder.

Just needs a bit more planning and thinking if your influential players have previous.
