Why no Springer, surely we can't let him go with the injuries we have?
if he can't get in the 19 over a 17 year old tonight I can't see a future at Cas. We shall see. Hope he plays next week.

As for the game changer we could of scored form that penatly
Sorry mate. Have to disagree. Shentons defence was awful last night. He shot out of the line so many times leaving himself in no man's land and looking totally amatuer. Leaving eden with a 2 on 1 each time. Iv e always admired shenton but recently his reading of a game has been ridiculously poor. If he wasn't captain he's have been dropped before now.

You have to be pessimistic about our chances of doing anything this season after that display, the ease with which we were torn apart by a 36 year old Danny brough and an average stand off in gaskill was extremely worrying, we couldn’t cope with their speed of movement and bodies in motion, they looked like they could score at will at some points in the game, other teams will have seen how easily we were ripped apart last night and will know exactly how to rip us to shreds, we had a very good team (on paper) out on the paddock last night, but considering the opposition, that was the worst performance in 4 years, absolutely shocking!!!

As well as that he very rarely looked for Eden and turned inside when there was space on the wing time and time again. His refusal to let go of the ball was hidden last year by Dorn’s cut out passing to Eden

How many of that backline we had last night would you want to have named in the first match next season ?

A collective bad day in the office by the entire side. So many questions to be answered...did they think they were going to walk the game after going 12-0 up?

We didn't look sharp, devoid of any attacking structure and Huddersfield offloaded and made yards with ease...didn't seem to matter where their set of 6 started by tackle 5 we were defending our tryline.

The backline looked slow and ponderous, the forwards (Cook apart) appear to be forgetting to make the hard yards and are starting to crab across field attempting to distribute the ball, this i feel is because there isn't much confidence in the half back pairing in attack.

On that performance forget about the semi finals.

Agree. Shenton was not at the races defensively.

4 very poor performances out of the last 6. A repeat of that form in our next 8 games and we can forget about a GF semi. If we play like we have been doing, we will struggle to win any of the last 7 (might manage a win next week).

Have to disagree, the ‘performance’ at Catalans was the worst one I can remember.
What’s really worrying is how we can win most of our games and occasionally put in a shocker like last night!!!
How can we be so inconsistent to beat Warrington and Wigan then lose badly like this?
Is there some problem between the players and/or the coaching staff?

QLT - Hes not played SL for a reason and at 34 we need a proper FB
Clare - ok as backup for a few games a season but that's it
Webster - too old needs to retire
Shenton - Lost it playing poor
Eden - playing poor (maybe all the injuries playing a part)
Ellis - we will leave it there
Trueman - Will be class in years to come

Roberts - sicknote. Needs replacing
Gale - Class
Minikin - quality winger
Gill - Good backup

So for me we seriously need a FB, Centre and Winger that will start and improve our 13 let alone the 17

I think we need to start next season:

New Full back(Priority)
Eden
Shenton
New centre (Priority)/Minikin
New winger/Minikin

Trueman
Gale

Backups
Turner, Claire, Gill, Egodu, Ellis,
Possibly Webster and/or QLT dependent on signings.

I'd look at release Roberts and Aston.

We need to bring in a quality full back and centre as our recruitment priorities (or move Minikin back in the centre's and bring in a quality big, robust winger). Unfortunately FB and centre are pretty tough positions to fill with quality imo. Hopefully we have an NRL player lined up for at least one of those positions.

Assuming no one of note is going to be leaving the top 8 clubs clubs (and Wakey/Leeds) we might end up making late plays for players from teams that go down/don't get promoted, depending on their contract terms (none SL releases).

Leigh - Matautia
Hull KR - Vaivai
Salford - Evalds, Sau
Widnes - Inu
Are the ones I think might be worth consideration as 1st team starters.

Within those squads theirs probably a few additional backs worth a punt as squad/project players Dagger, Shaw, bibby, etc!

Should Egodu be getting a look in next week? We threw Minikin in and it worked. Too many underperforming names already on the team sheet for next week.

on Daryls interview we look like we have another three forwards that will be missing for a number of weeks, our under 19s look hardly ready but who knows till we try them, Roby Story could do a job at center in my opinion
