Referees

Post by callum_walker » 07 Apr 2018, 15:40

Friday night's game St Helens v Hull FC had one of the most blatant forward passes given as a try. But, it wasn't Hicks' fault, rather he was let down by his linesmen. Linesmen must improve https://uk.blastingnews.com/sport/2018/ ... 90617.html

I blame the video ref he as cameras to show you clearly a forward pass but ignores the duties of his job.

Apart from the VR isn't allowed to judge on a forward pass and never has been.

They're called touch judges. Not linesmen.
Not the only people who need to pull their finger out.

Thought we had a separate thread for these?
I don’t mind reading them, but the forum is almost turning into a budding journalist’s platform at the moment. At least in the ‘articles’ thread I can choose to read them (which I do), but it’s really annoying to find them at the start of so many threads.

I don’t have a problem with it. In fact I quite enjoy reading his stuff.
It became a problem when every thread was one of his articles. To resolve this admin created a ‘sticky’ for him to post them. However, they still continue to be posted as separate threads.
It’s a forum, not a platform for budding journalists. Perhaps the reason it’s quiet is that everyone is fed up of opening threads to see that they all start with a link to another website?
To reiterate, I like Callum’s stuff and think the permanent thread is a great idea. This isn’t a criticism of his work or his decision to post them here, but the forum can’t turn into a vehicle for online journalists.

As for referees, I’ve come to accept the incompetence from them.
Lines men, assistant referees whatever you want to call them, might as well be cardboard cut outs.
Far to many inconsistencies from them every game.

As for the so called forward pass, how embarrassing to our great sport.
Anyone know who the ass ref was on that line.
Like to see if he’s gets a game next week.

Another dire refereeing performance in the Catalans v Wigan match. McBanana has whinged about the number of penalties given against led cats but IMHO it is justified. Wigan milked every tackle, throwing themselves to the floor and waving their arms in the air appealing for penalties and it worked. The ref fell for it and piggy backed Wigan up the field into try scoring positions. It seemed to me that the ref was very naive (inexperienced) and the more play-acting by the the Wigan players the more he got conned.
