Re: Sundays squad.
Seeing we have only one recognized full back , i would like to see Callum Turner given some game time, the lad earned his place in the England under 19 team , what have we to loose by playing the lad in a friendly ??

Assuming Ellis, Minikin, Springer, JY all wont be fit for Feb 2nd i'd go with that at Saints too.

Re: Sundays squad.
I’d play two fairly balanced sides in each half and no go full strength. Mix it up.
Roberts
Lo/Clare
Egodo/Webster
Shenton/Wardle
Eden
Trueman
Gale
Millington/Green
McShane/Aston
Massey/Cook
Holmes/Moors
McMeeken/Foster
Milner/JSL
If we are to go full strength I’d go:
Roberts, Lo, Webster, Shenton, Eden, Trueman, Gale, Millington, McShane, Massey, JSL, McMeeken, Milner.
Bench: Moors, Cook, Wardle, Foster, Holmes, Clare, Aston, Green, Egodo
Roberts
Lo/Clare
Egodo/Webster
Shenton/Wardle
Eden
Trueman
Gale
Millington/Green
McShane/Aston
Massey/Cook
Holmes/Moors
McMeeken/Foster
Milner/JSL

Roberts, Lo, Webster, Shenton, Eden, Trueman, Gale, Millington, McShane, Massey, JSL, McMeeken, Milner.
Bench: Moors, Cook, Wardle, Foster, Holmes, Clare, Aston, Green, Egodo

Re: Sundays squad.
I'm disappointed not to see Mitch Clark in the squad. I hope he has a minor knock rather than him been left out.
Re: Sundays squad.
Jy will also be disappointed. Roberts needs a full game at full back, hopefully Jy, Clare & Turner all get a shot at fullback against Newcastle.
Still baffled at people picking Jesse in the back row, Powell clearly sees him as a middle man.
Mcmeeken on the right
3 way shout out for starting spot on the left and bench spot between Wardle, Fozz & Holmes.

Re: Sundays squad.
I hope James Green proves good enough for a starting prop role in the season. I really think we need some size in this area, and I think we are vulnerable against big packs with Jessie or Nathan Massey alongside Millington in the Front Row.

will have to work hard to force his way in..
although we can all see we struggled up front last year, you'd have 2 props starting, 3 on the bench..
Massey, jesse, millo, Cooky, junior.. green, Clark & Gadwin will have to work hard and even be patient.
Although if he has a stormer against Leeds I really do hope DP rewards him with a place in the 17 against St Helens.

Re: Sundays squad.
If they never get a chance they will either move on or lose talent. It's a risk but can pay off. Leeds did it with Walker last year and went on to...... Well you know. No reason we can't do the same by bringing in youngsters like Turner and Trueman.gateman wrote:yes i must admit i do like to promote our youth set up, sorry if i offend any of you please accept my sincere apologiesThe Fox wrote:Surprised you haven't mentioned it before now!!PSTiger wrote:We know you would.gateman wrote:Seeing we have only one recognized full back , i would like to see Callum Turner given some game time, the lad earned his place in the England under 19 team , what have we to loose by playing the lad in a friendly ??

It's not offensive mate, just ever so slightly repetitive. Nothing to apologise for.gateman wrote:yes i must admit i do like to promote our youth set up, sorry if i offend any of you please accept my sincere apologiesThe Fox wrote:Surprised you haven't mentioned it before now!!PSTiger wrote:We know you would.gateman wrote:Seeing we have only one recognized full back , i would like to see Callum Turner given some game time, the lad earned his place in the England under 19 team , what have we to loose by playing the lad in a friendly ??

Re: Sundays squad.
Gateman makes great points about our youngsters.
If we can't blood them in an environment where we have a strong set up and they are not playing in a side that is getting rinsed every week - when can we?
I've seen it so many times over the years where promising talent has found its way into our first team (that hasn't being going well) through necessity rather than in a planned way and suffered because of it.
Food for thought if nothing else
