new forward to be announced
new forward to be announced
Steve Gill on radio Leeds today stated that a new signing would be announced in the next few weeks and he was hoping to extend the contracts of some of our senior players

i have heard JOE WARDLE also if true he would be a very good signing covering second row or centre, at Huddersfield did he play centre for most of his games ??

Thing is gateman, we need a prop forward not a 2nd rower/centre.

Re: new forward to be announced
From what I have seen recently I feel JSL is far more effective out wide in the backrow and looks a little bit on the light side for the front row.the machine wrote:Jesse to propold cas lass wrote:gateman wrote:i have heard JOE WARDLE also if true he would be a very good signing covering second row or centre, at Huddersfield did he play centre for most of his games ??

Powell preferes him at prop but I think he looks far better wide out and does far more damage.

All well and good Machine but you'll lose the damage he can cause on the fringethe machine wrote:Jesse to propold cas lass wrote:gateman wrote:i have heard JOE WARDLE also if true he would be a very good signing covering second row or centre, at Huddersfield did he play centre for most of his games ??

Plus I think he's too small to play the big go forward and abrasive approach we really need to draw in defending units along with taking the attention away from Moors, Millo etc
Re: new forward to be announced
I must agree i would have thought a prop would have been our top priority , but who knows we might be getting a prop besides Wardle Joe as some size to had to our team, this may help counteract the likes of Hull and St Helens who seem to steam roller us at times , we will be losing lynch and Monagan at the end of the season what with Rangi also gone this should free the money up

Just to clarify I'm not saying that's where I'd put him just that's what I expect to happen

Re: new forward to be announced
I'm not too sure we'll lose Monaghan. He has been very good when needed this year and would be on a much reduced contract.gateman wrote:I must agree i would have thought a prop would have been our top priority , but who knows we might be getting a prop besides Wardle Joe as some size to had to our team, this may help counteract the likes of Hull and St Helens who seem to steam roller us at times , we will be losing lynch and Monagan at the end of the season what with Rangi also gone this should free the money up
For next year, I'd be happy if we signed Walmsley, Tagataese and Wardle. With the loss of Chase and Lynch, the increase in salary cap and increased revenue from this year's success I think this is possible.
Re: new forward to be announced
Moors to prop.
Jesse, McMeekan, Wardle, Oggy and Foster at 2nd Row
Millo, Moors, Cook, Patrick, Springer (Massey) props
Milner and Massey for Loose

Yeah I get what you are saying kidder just I think it would be a recessive move mate just like you do.
As others allude to Moors to prop is an option but it's taking that impact he has after the initial exchanges. If we could stretch and rumours believed
Walmsley Macca Tangetase
Oggy Meeks Adz
Moors Cook JSL Millo
Rotating through the season to keep the opposition guessing game plans
Wardle I still see as a centre though he's plied his trade in the second row at Newcastle

What we know for sure is
Chase and Lynch both gone
Questions remain over
Larroyer and Monoghan
if we signed Walmsley, Tagataese and Wardle that would be great

Re: new forward to be announced
It sounded to me like we were only making the one signing for next season. Possibly keeping some money back to see who gets freed up over the coming months.
Sounds like we could yet still keep Ben Crooks too

Clark? He wanted to sign him 3 years ago but he went to Warrington?

Re: new forward to be announced
Think it will be Wardle. Would be a great signing. Powell has said probably going for 2 signings for next year. Need a prop on top. Walmsley rumour been dismissed a few times but still got some legs. Tagatese? Burgess? Wishful thinking?

Re: new forward to be announced
Wouldn't get in the team anymore, he's half the player he was and has been surpassed by both McShane and Milner.TT Tiger wrote:Clark? He wanted to sign him 3 years ago but he went to Warrington?
Itll likely be Wardle, they wouldn't announce Walmsley when they still might have to play Saints again this season.
