Re: 2018 squad signings
Apparently Niall Evaldsnhas turned down a new contract at Salford.
Can play wing or full-back and still very young.

Really rate him. I think we'd have to let him a starting shirt but whilst webbo is so able he'd have to wait. He's been on the bench escorts a long time like sneyd was. I can see him at hull.nottinghamtiger wrote:Apparently Niall Evaldsnhas turned down a new contract at Salford.

Could grab a wing spot, move minikin inside for Webbo at some point. Play a role like monners.mart0042 wrote:Really rate him. However rather than play a bit part at Cas or Salford, he could command a starting spot at Widnes or Leigh, Leeds may even be a destination for him.
He wouldn't get in our best 13 but would be an invaluable squad man. Much like he is at Salford though.
We need to find another Minikin for our floating back man to replace mona. Does anyone know genuinely how egodo is going?
Is Gill promising? It's about time we produced another outside back.....could Gill fill in monaghans squad role?

Re: 2018 squad signings
Perhaps if the long term plan is to put Minikin into centre then Evalds would be a good signing, but perhaps he would need to accept he has competition from Eden and Minikin for the wing spots.mart0042 wrote:Really rate him. I dont reallu see minikin as a centre when he has been there with eden on the outside of him he very rarely passes the ball to him and thats not what you want from a centre, minikin is best ob the wing with a good centre on the inside of him.
Iv said it before amd il say it again, for a forward for replace lynch id go for tony williams from the sharks, fits our play perfectly and a big unit with great ball skills and offload

Re: 2018 squad signings
I actually agree re Minikin. To me, he's not big enough for a centre and his pace and footwork make him a better winger.Bolton-tiger wrote:I dont reallu see minikin as a centre when he has been there with eden on the outside of him he very rarely passes the ball to him and thats not what you want from a centre, minikin is best ob the wing with a good centre on the inside of him.

It's an interesting one this as Greg has many very good years ahead of him.nottinghamtiger wrote:I actually agree re Minikin. I've always thought that Shenny lakes the size to be a genuine international class centre. That may also be why the Saints gig didn't really work out. He compensates in other ways though and is a joy to watch down our left.
Jake, on the other hand, is my kind of centre and is the kind of beast that Greg probably won't mature into. Webbo is aggressive, runs straight and hard, can cart out of our 20 like a forward, tackles big but has great hands. He is also at the very heart beat of our club and will be very tough to replace.
It will be an interesting one to watch over the next 2 years.

Powell has already commented his plans for the future..
As things stand he sees Minikin as Shentons replacement
Egodo as Jakes replacement.
As we know anything can happen with availability of other players and development of the players mentioned above.
Re: 2018 squad signings
Ben Crooks looks to have upped his game slightly at Leigh. Are we writing him out?

Re: 2018 squad signings
Crooks as looked a decent sentre and he was solid at Cas but suffered through poor service in the right centre, with Roberts back playing he could look a different player with us next year if Powell wants him back.
Re: 2018 squad signings
Thinkingabout it, if we'd known the snake was leaving, I bet crooksy would have been kept at Cas.Sharlotiger wrote:Crooks as looked a decent sentre and he was solid at Cas but suffered through poor service in the right centre, with Roberts back playing he could look a different player with us next year if Powell wants him back.
He's a good reservevto have. Surely...centre/wing. Replacing Monaghan...

Wasn't Crooks off-loaded to help pay Hardaker's wages?

I wouldn't rule out taking him back. He's solid.

Re: 2018 squad signings
But is it a case of Crooks playing for a club that fits him.
Sometimes you just have those players and clubs who just align and work well.
