Not a bad player, would be a good squad aquisition.
Quite nippy if memory serves me right. |
YOU WHAT!!!!!!
you must be the ideal supporter in the eyes of our BoD. if we sign this lad over wainwright i will refuse to re-new my season ticket, that is a promise!!!! |
So can we not allow for injuries, suspensions and the probability of Richie Owen going to full-back.
He will also be very cheap plus he is locally trained, we need a squad of 25 players this season and it won't be full of superstars I can tell you.
Iam also a fan of Wainwright, who is to say he is not finalising his T+C's as we speak. |
i'm sorry but i'm sure we have as equally poor/good (players however you look at it) in our academy to call on if injuries dictate rather than sign AB!
the rumour is wainwright has been offered a part time deal. i hpe he tells RW to go F himself and his club and sign for celtic crusaders or wakey and come back and score hat trick against us next season, i'm being serious. the club is a joke at times, but i cannot say i'm surprised. |
Part time deal, thats got to be the biggest load of crap ever !! who fills you with this tripe

Can't see Buchanon being better than Wainwright. If Wakey got shut of him then why would we want him? Furthermore, I very much doubt we would be after Evans, Ford, Sherrife and Buchanon all at once. How on earth Wainwright has not proved himself to better than these I have no idea. If we were looking to sign some really exciting and promsing fliers then I could understand us overlooking Wainwright but these alternatives appear to be a let down.

I agree there with you although i would say Sheriffe is almost on par with Wainwright, at Quins he looks like he isn't the most popular player for them or SL but does what he has to and i a good player (certainly SL standard unlike Ford and Buchanon)

I agree, I would much rather put in one of our accademy players than sign Buchanon. Also, Wainwright, from my point of view, should definately get a new full time contract. As he got the coach player of year then that must mean he is worthy of getting a new contract surely.

Worrincey is SL bound. Can't remember the club though (could be Bradford).

it astounds me that people think worrincy is SL class. Hes incapable of catching a ball and is devoid of any positional sense. signing worrincy would be 100 times worse than signing any of the players that have been discussed on this board.

The reason the club are looking at a host of NL wingers backs etc in preference to Wainwright, is quite simply that MW has now proved himself in SL and so his ante is upped. They aren't proven, so they come cheaper. I've been telling people on here for a while now, that we've not much left in the kitty, due to our inept dealings on contracts already that have been agreed.
Therefore we're having to sign players on the cheap. Even more so when our budget is substantially less than the full salary cap. Another reason of course why we should have had someone with more acumen, knowledge and professionalism when it came to negotiating many of those deals.
By my reckoning we've only got 18 players up to now for next year, make that 17 if Korky is offloaded. So somehow we've got to acquire 7 or 8 players to make a standard 25, with not much in the kitty. (although if we could offload Korky it would give us some more).
That's why we're looking at the likes of Ford, Briggs, Buchanan etc.
Incidentally I was told from the horses mouth a few days ago that Wainwright had been made an offer. The offer was described as a "bag of sweets, and when he looked inside there were no sweets".
It was that poor.

I would say Worrincey is one of the best wingers in the NL.
He's very raw at rugby and doesnt have skills that maybe other wingers may have in that league and certainly SL but he does make up for that with pure pace and because hes very fast he is also strong.
I hav wathed him a few times this season and he's solid in defence and in the air and attack, i should imagine a SL team would come in for him and make him a much better player.
Like someone said he is very dangerous on the wing and certainly up the middle!

I've no idea whether we've signed Buchanan or not, but if we have or do, I'll be gobsmacked. I knew about 3 weeks ago that we'd enquired about him, as a couple of people on here can verify as I told them. I also posted here we'd enquired about a NL1 player who has already been tried and tested in SL, and been found wanting.
It would be astounding because TM asked a former player of ours who plays with him, for his opinion and advice, namely one Chris Charles. CC's reply was something along the lines of 'Forget him, he's not good enough' and 'I'd love to be able to recommend him, but I can't'.
I've not heard anything about us signing him, but if we happen to do so, then basically we will have totally ignored CC's advice. Which would mean we'd be clutching at straws and be prepared to sign him just because he's cheap.
Personally I hope it's wrong and we never went further than merely making an enquiry.
