When was the last major transfer not a player at the end of contract but when a club made a bold statement by signing someone?!

Ok Warrington have signed Burrell but not exactly a household name in union nevermind league!

There needs to be some excitement to bring attention to the game

I think most sports watchers would know Burrell. I can't stand the game but know he had played at the top level.

The thing is rugby league players aren't household names apart from oz and nz or the islands. So the point, in essence, is moot.

Talking rugby league, Hurrell, merrin Austin, widdop and even Greg Bird are well known and household.

IMO the last major transfer was probably Trent Barrett to Wigan.

Clarke to Wire.
Not so much a transfer.
More like a transfusion.
Kept the club alive, viable.
Sad when he left.
Glad he's getting back to his best.
Glad that reject McShane came in swop of the Century.

Since DP took charge...

2015 no Daryl Clarke
2016 Shenny out for the Season after 20 mins
2017 no Solamona
2018 no Hardaker
2019 no Luke Gale

In DP we trust.

Not putting words into his/her mouth but you could read it as "we lose are stars but keep getting better and making more average players stars, due to DP"

Point I've made before Powell being hampered building his side with situations you would have trouble making up with Carney snake in the grass solamona rangi and hardaker... injurys you have to take on the chin but he's still kept the team a top four side which is a testament to his ability as a coach

Dead right, the most important transfer this decade was from Featherstone Rovers to Castleford Tigers, one Daryl Powell.

Sorry Spanish l thought you were being cryptic and holding DP responsible for the departures.
I echo the sentiment.

Perish the thought mate, I was alluding to to the fact that DP has kept us up the top end of the table despite all the obstacles put in his path.
