Normanton Knights

Post by gateman » 29 Oct 2017, 10:26

may be I should not be posting the above on here, but I am so chuffed that the Knights have earned the right to play in the top division of the conference league the first time in the clubs history, they overcame Milford Marlins at Widnes 20-18 ex CAS under 19s player Conner Taylor contributed 2 try's, 3 of our ex under 19s played for Milford Josh Nathaniel, Snellgrove and Parley , Nathaniel also scored , Normanton man of the match Luke Molloy

Aided by a dodgy offside call which would’ve made it 10-0 to Milford. Instead, Normy went and made it 6-4.

Great for normy Knights but IMO you won't get many people from Cas celebrating has they are a wakey club in no way affiliated to the town of Castleford.

Just seen that decision.
Was awful. God knows what the officials do in a game.

Wakefield keep claiming that Normanton are one of their community clubs they may be in name but I would say Normanton is now an hot bed of CAS supporters, a number of our players watch CAS, on the downside of being promoted we have more traveling to do plus the loss of our local derby's Lock lane gave us our best gate of the season, the club are going to have to do some fund raising to cover the extra traveling costs plus may be lower gate receipts, the players wanted it so I am pleased for them

Wakefield claim normanton has one of its community clubs because it is,the juniors play in the Wakefield cup not the Cas and district cup and that's always been the case.im married to a normy girl so nothing against the place and yes a lot of normy folk support Cas including my wife but I'd say they are still in the minority.

Nothing against the Knights either I'm sure they are great club but a Cas club they arnt.

When I worked in normy in the 90s I can guarantee you that there were more cas fans than anyone else, plus the best boozer in town was the black swan run by Selwyn, as big a cas fan as you could ever meet. Also bear in mind where did Oggy come from ?

When I mentioned EX CAS under 19S players that played in this match I don't know why but I didn't mention TOM Carrol a lovely lad and player, on Normanton books we also have Clark Thompson when watching the under 19s at CAS this lad used to score for fun, he did it in loads of matches this year for the Knights I always thought with more commitment this lad could have gone all the way
