Featherstone Ground
Featherstone Ground
Just watched the 1989 Featherstone vs Cas. game on You Tube, then watched this weeks Superleague Show including Featherstone vs Leigh. Have to say I am impressed with the considerable improvements Fev. have made to their ground. It's now a nice tidy ground with good stands, would suit Wakey!
Re: Featherstone Ground
Totally agree I went there a while back, it is much improved . Wakefield would be sound as a pound there !
Re: Featherstone Ground
Or if wakefields ground is not up to standard should Fev replace them in super league?

Re: Featherstone Ground
we did a bit of work on fev ground it as come on a lot
wakey would be silly to turn down a offer to play there ...no fev would be whipping boys of super league....

Re: Featherstone Ground
Definitely not, places should be earned on the field not allocated according to who has the best grounds. It's a couple of hours 13/14 times a season, plush grounds aren't necessary it's the product on the field that should count.johnson wrote:Or if wakefields ground is not up to standard should Fev replace them in super league?

Re: Featherstone Ground
According to my capper mate last night it still only holds 6500. Surely not enough for super league?

Re: Featherstone Ground
carter share a ground within the wf postcode. he thinks that would be the end for Newmarket as the council would see it as the problem being solved.

Anyone else noticed how quiet he has been since the 'big meeting' with the RFL last week? For a bloke that loves the sound of his own voice he is keeping a low profile all of a sudden. Something is going on in the background one way or another.lurcher wrote:carter share a ground within the wf postcode. he thinks that would be the end for Newmarket as the council would see it as the problem being solved.

Re: Featherstone Ground
That's because it's out of his hands. It goes to the RFL board for a meeting later this month and until then they can't do anything. Only way the situation can change is if a clear plan comes forward for a delivery of a new stadium. The Firm wrote:Anyone else noticed how quiet he has been since the 'big meeting' with the RFL last week? Re: Featherstone Ground
Back to Fev and whilst not wanting to compliment them too much they have achieved significant change by virtue of good luck, hard work and sacrifice.
The main stand was preplaced because of a fire.
The Long 'family' stand was paid for through a sponsorship deal by RJB Mining that covered a number of years and obviously reduced the income over that period.
The 'Railway' end is in fact the old stands from the former Scarborough FC that were bought fairly cheaply and transported to Fev where they were re-erected by volunteers. As I understand it, the seats in this stand are old ones from Elland Road.

Re: Featherstone Ground
it was a bit like a throw back to the old days on saturday all the fev fans walked to where the leigh fans were sitting for the second half and the leigh fans obligingly got out there seats and went to the other end
