Re: Wakey to get new ground maybe
Get read for a new effigy for the Wakey fans to burn...... our very own Councillor Denise Jeffries has been appointed to the new trust to see the re-vamp of Belle Vue.

Denise Jeffries May represent a district of Castleford on the WMDC she acted like a cuckoo replacing one of our own local candidates when she was in danger of loosing her Wakefield seat I think she is a Wakefield fan at heart

Re: Wakey to get new ground maybe
Looks like another warehouse is going to be built that will not count toward Wakey's square footage towards the Newmarket community stadium :-

must be a draft letter of complaint by the looks of things. every objection is the same. probably all wakey fans but who can blame them for trying.

Re: Wakey to get new ground maybe
I'm weary with it all now Lurcher, I've been involved with SWAG for upwards of ten years and I'm just a bit "blah" now, people are still working their socks off, will we get a ground at Newmarket? Not a chance, in my opinion for what it's worth, we might get a few 4G pitches that might be classed as community facilities but a new ground, nope. All I can see happening regarding BV is maybe backing Yorkcourt into a corner and maybe getting a little refurb of BV.
As a cynic, WMDC planning department received this second application on 21st May, it was validated (I'm guessing approved for public consumption) on the 9th August, it was then made public on Monday 4th September, that gave 11 days for the public to put in their objections, not a long time. Plus I've been trying since last night and the server is down. Hmmm.

Sorry, 8 days for objections, and it was Monday 3rd, they have to be in by the 11th.

Re: Wakey to get new ground maybe
I thought if an objection was received from a template, they were all counted as just one objection. That was the point I remember from the "stadium war" era.
Surely fans should be writing their own different ones?

Don't know Hudds, I'll look into that, cheers.HuddsTigers wrote:I thought if an objection was received from a template, they were all counted as just one objection. That was the point I remember from the "stadium war" era.

Not necessarily counted 'as one' but they hold less weight. Individual objections are much better.HuddsTigers wrote:I thought if an objection was received from a template, they were all counted as just one objection. That was the point I remember from the "stadium war" era.

Re: Wakey to get new ground maybe
There’s a thread on the Wakey RL Fans site that has provided a template for supporters to use. Not been on the planning portal to see if it is the same but what I did notice was this template only mentions the stadium and not all the other community sporting facilities it was supposed to also generate.lurcher wrote:must be a draft letter of complaint by the looks of things. every objection is the same. probably all wakey fans but who can blame them for trying.
Re: Wakey to get new ground maybe
I'm not in the know but guessing that this initial objection is just to judge the feelings regarding this new application, I'd assume that a more official one would include specifics.WallTiger wrote:There’s a thread on the Wakey RL Fans site that has provided a template for supporters to use. It does however refer to a "Community stadium (for the community) and never once mentions a "stadium for Wakefield Trinity"

Re: Wakey to get new ground maybe
May get shot down here,
But would it not be worth other fans of rugby teams objecting just because of the way Wakefield have been shafted over this?
It isn’t great at all that the clubs been used in the way it has for the development and applications outside the agreement.

Re: Wakey to get new ground maybe
Would the wakey fans be doing the same for cas if the boot was on the other foot is a thought that comes to my mind

I can't speak for everyone but I as a person always hate injustice, then again this isn't life or death. Would Wakey supporters object on behalf of Cas, yes I think some would. Do I expect Cas fans to object? Of course not but it was a fine sentiment from da_jimbob.

Re: Wakey to get new ground maybe
The vast majority probably not, but I reckon there may be a few rugby fans out there that see it as the shambles it is and put aside the rivalary for this issue at hand.tigerfeat wrote:Would the wakey fans be doing the same for cas if the boot was on the other foot is a thought that comes to my mind
I’m a big rugby fan and don’t like the way a club has been used to gain an advantage. But on the pitch I want to see us hammer them 86-0 and pick up all the quality youngsters.

Re: Wakey to get new ground maybe
Newmarket now officially dead in the water. WMDC have agreed to loan Wakey 3.15 million to buy-back and upgrade Belle Vue.

Re: Wakey to get new ground maybe
So what do the taxpayers get for £3.15m, what is the repayment plan over what period and in what conditions. And what happens if Wakefield default again?
Also, will the same offer of money be open to CTRLFC and Featherstone Rovers should they wish to pursue this?
Too many questions, too little answers.
