New forum design - NOW ACTIVE.

Post by Matt » 17 Jul 2011, 18:33

Since launching the forum 5 or so years ago we've never changed the forum style, it's always been more or less the same with a few tweaks and it's now starting to look very dated.

So I present you with a early sneak peek of what's to come in the next month. We'll also be accepting feedback once we make the theme public.

UPDATE: 22/07/11

The theme will replace the current one on 30/07/11. Whilst we aim to fix as many bugs and styling issues as possible some may crop up. If you notice any strange behaviour please post in this thread.

Looks great but i think it'd look better with the tigers logo if that's possible?

Can't use the logo as it's copyrighted and we're not affiliated with club in anyway. Some of our older members might remember the logo as we've used it in the past.

For the time being only admins can actually see or use the theme as it's still under heavy development.

To begin with the theme will be "Opt-in" which will allow us to gather any feedback or bugs you encounter. Once we're happy the old theme will be switched off and everyone will be moved over to the new one.

I'm feeling kind so I've turned on the theme. If you wish to use it go to the user control panel > Board preferences and change My Board Style to Casforum2.

Please note: The theme is still being developed so some areas might not work or look as they should, in addition to that if you do decide to use the new theme please help by leaving feedback and any problems you encounter.

Problems we already know about:

User details to the left of the post - currently not aligned correctly and missing borders and the background.
User details overlapping posts (if the location is longer than 5 words)

I like it. I'll report anything I find that seems to be wrong in here.

The theme scales to your monitor resolution. Can you also give examples of "too much going on".

The threads are a bit cluttered, like the icons for read/unread just don't really seem in proportion. Other then that so far it looks great.
