outstanding today. Only worry is being able to do it on a consistent basis. Would be a good squad player but like Jy takes a quota spot.

Why would we want to get rid of Holmes n why would Holmes want to leave? What a strange comment isn't Holmes under contract for another year or 2?

Holmes is getting better and better. He's been in and out of the team and his form has suffered. Was good yesterday by all accounts and his try showed real pace. A Cas lad we should be keeping, I think he's got a 2 year deal.

I think Holmes will be another dean Sampson. A one club man.
Thought his pace for his try was special.
He certainly wanted to get to the line.

Why on Earth would we want to let Ollie Holmes go. His best years are ahead of him.
Another prop and a centre if possible if Webster leaves.after that I think our 2019 squad is done. I don't see the point in doing what we did last year bringing players in just to bolster the squad, you then spend the rest of the year trying to off load them to give them game time.

On recruitment in general, I'd hazard a guess that we're done.
The debate on Holmes is interesting though. I don't question his effort and in particular his defensive qualities are top end. However, for me there are far too many occasions when our renowned left side attack breaks down when he gets involved. Last year was the prime example; when he was out we set opposing teams aside but on his return we merely got by.
I'll continue to monitor with interest...

There was an interesting comment from Wells on golden point last week where he said once you have a decent team there's no need for wholesale changes, it's just tinkering here and there.
On that basis, I can't see us doing much more. I still think we have a spot for possibly 1/2 more players, possibly another forward and another centre but that's about it. Money will have gone into retention and faith in the likes of Gill. If we look at outgoings:
Hitchcox >>>> Gill
Green >>>> Clark
Springer >>>> providing the rumours about him being offloaded are true
Webster >>> (if he doesn't go around again).

I think we need one more massive sized prop who can offload - someone like the size of Murdoch Masila /Pauli Pauli with an offload like Cuthbertson - anyone you would recommend who may be available ?? Get Gale and Trueman to be buzzing around this type of player for the offload will create havoc for opposing teams !!
QLT looks to be hanging in ok at full back for another season but Mamo would be a consideration as the extra one player needed also as if we get the offloading big prop as suggested earlier tying in with Gale and Truman and the speed of either QLT/Mamo will have teams in big trouble defending especially with Greg further out with his speed backed up with Peter M and Minikin !
Peter M I think needs to stay in centre and take over from Jake as I think he won't be anywhere as effective as he has been - the writing was started when Burgess handed him off way too easily early doors season and it really affected his confidence in the remainder of that Wigan game as he finished off have a shocker ! May get one more season out of Shenton so I would leave him in for next season.

We are not done yet according to Powell. FB still a priority with 2019 in mind (although some one could make it there's) so if that's the case QLT will go when end of season and Mata'utia is a replacement for Webster who will also depart.

Why did Powell say we've signed Mata'utia as are new full back then

He also said the same about Eden when he signed.
Powell has said they've signed X player for Y position then played them elsewhere fairly often, if memory serves.

He signed Eden as a full-back but then Hardaker became available and so we put Eden on to the wing, as a replacement for Solomona, because, as the court case v DS advised, we couldn't find a direct replacement of the same calibre. Hardaker was DS's replacement.
He excelled there, hence why we've never put him back to full-back and why we've looked for someone else.
With Mata'utia, I think he's our full-back especially if the rumours about Q not staying are true.
