Both ruled out for 3 to 4 months

Holmes possibly.back a month into the season and Maher the start of the season

Apparently Holmes carried this injury at the end of the season and in to the England Knights series. Why was he allowed to go and why did he not have the operation at the end of the season?

Bit selfish to deny a player the chance to gain international caps

Corey Aston, once again will be starting a pre season with us, getting paid, only to play the season at Sheffield. Madness.

It appears we have fans that are ok with us having injured players missing when they should not be. All in the name of personal gain.

I wonder if Wigan/Saints would do that?

So the already weak squad is weakened further by absences that we already knew about...

Holmes was allowed to go on tour knowing he would need a op when he came back that was going to see him be out for four months
You just have to laugh sometimes at the desicions we come up with

Wish we would just pay Maher and Aston Off surely it wouldn’t cost that much.

Maher could be injured for 12 weeks and wouldn't effect our team, Holmes is guna miss the 1st month (4games) hardly a massive deal when we have a million other 2nd rowers some of who are in front of Holmes for selection anyway.

This club is about keeping players happy to get the best out of them, chances are Holmes could of missed the England opportunity had operation and still not been selected for 1st 4 games.

Wonder what we can moan about next.

It is what it is nobody things more of representing your country than me I think we shoot ourselves in the foot too often as been said if he played for Wigan and a few other clubs he would have gone straight to have the surgery done

“Oliver Holmes has been nursing a shoulder injury for quite some time, which people haven’t realised,” said Crowther. “He came back from the tour with England Knights and we got him scanned and realised his shoulder was a little bit worse than we thought and he needed surgery on it. So, Oliver is going to be missing for three to four months but we feel like as a club that this is the right time to do it and get him back for maybe a month into the season, ready for a very strong finish from Oliver.”

Going by this the seriousness of the problem was identified till after he returned from international duty.

If you watch the interview with Crowther this is not what happened. He had a niggle he has been carrying and upon returning from international duty a scan showed he needed an op so he’s had it now rather than taking it into next year.
