Re: Kieran Gill joins Newcastle on loan for season
Absolutely mad if you’d take Marshall and Burgess over Eden. All the Wigan fans complain about Marshall as he can’t defend and there’s a reason Burgess doesn’t start any more. He’s been terrible since since he came back from the NRL. I genuinely believe we have the worst fans in the league 3 of this back line have got to the Grand Final and 4the semi final in the last two seasons. I agree we need a centre but I’m sick of people moaning for moaning sake.braytontiger wrote:They say love is blind. To correct myself I thought Burgess was dropped due to lack of form but after a quick google, I stand corrected. I remember he suffered with poor form but that must have been last season.PSTiger wrote:Absolutely mad if you’d take Marshall and Burgess over Eden. Gale falls out with a few at training its always his way or no way even when he is in the wrongderkster wrote:Probably been shipped out because him and gale had a bit of a fall out in training last season. Nothing but handbags but powell seemed to blame Gill for it.

Re: Kieran Gill joins Newcastle on loan for season
Who's moaning ? For the record burgess and Marshall both suffered season ending injuries. Burgess tore us to bits earlier in the season at Wigan whilst Marshall scored the best try down the lane scored by the opposition all year. It's not moaning stating you believe someone from another club could possibly be better than one of our own, likewise we have some players better than others at Wigan. I'm a fan of cas but also a fan that can appreciate opposing players and there attributes.PSTiger wrote:Absolutely mad if you’d take Marshall and Burgess over Eden. Luke Gale is definitely better than Sam Powell. McShane is better than Leuluai.

Re: Kieran Gill joins Newcastle on loan for season
Just the 2 then?
This shows in reality how far we are away from being a real quality side that will win things. Runners up and semi finLs may be ok for a short time but do we think we can/will win a trophy in the next 2 seasons with the lack of out and out quality in the team?
Saints and Wigan will be there again as usual. Saints have added 2 top players to last year and Wigan still have a strong squad even though they lost a couple.
Even Leeds are signing better players for next season and Warrington won’t be far away although it won’t be their year again.
In my view this will make finishing in the top 4 harder than the last 2 years. If we can’t shake off the bottlers tag we seem to have acquired then what do we think we can achieve in 2019?

Watts
McShane
Moors
Whilst Shenton,Holmes, trueman would be on par with there opposite.
All means nothing unless your on a computer game
Re: Kieran Gill joins Newcastle on loan for season
Nothing in less sign some attacking. Backs and another big nasty prop with some impact if we go we squad we got 7th or 8th in past we would be happy we that but fans expect to build on last years success but apparently no signings like the nineties again get left behind

Re: Kieran Gill joins Newcastle on loan for season
Whilst I agree with Gale and McShane I do t see anyone else at the moment that is better. Watts is potentially better and Moors has dropped back a bit mainly through injury. JSL was devastating with the ball on the outside yet he was moved to prop. Not a good move for me at all.
Whilst I have always been a big fan of Shenny I feel he is almost at the end of his career now and didn’t have his usual kind of impact this year.

I named the first two I could think of. I don’t think there’s too much between Shenton and Gildart and Eden is a fantastic winger on his day.Lofthouse Tiger wrote:Just the 2 then?

I’d say that Trueman could be better than Williams (who seems to be overhyped because he plays for Wigan). There’s an argument that we have better subs and fringe players (Id take Moors/Cook/Clark over Tautai and Hamlin for example).
Wigan have a better starting 13 as the semi shows. But when we perform we can be just as good, if not better.

Could be better isn’t better is it Hudds?
On his day could be said about many people also but the ones that are “On his day” more often are clearly the better players.
The way Wigan defended against us in the semi showed for me that they have a better back line because we failed to breach it and didn’t really get close.
I would bet with anyone that Wigan will finish above Cas and will be closer to winning a trophy next year than we will based on the squads we have.

Re: Kieran Gill joins Newcastle on loan for season
My worry for the next two years isn't the backs if we sign sau or another good centre
Mata'utia
Minikin
Good centre
Shenny
Eden
Trueman
Gale
Would do for me
The forwards have to get on top over there opponents you can't win owt unless your forwards take control in big games but if they can do that no reason we can't win the grand final in next two years

Re: Kieran Gill joins Newcastle on loan for season
Trueman had a good first year - he was better than Williams last year. But he’s very much still at the potential stage and needs to back it up again this year. You can’t judge to say he’s better until he’s played consistently at this level.Lofthouse Tiger wrote:Could be better isn’t better is it Hudds?

It’s like making a judgment on a new player after two games rather than waiting for a full season. You can’t do it.
Or are you saying you would have Williams over Trueman?
As for the on his day comment, like all wingers he can have stinkers. Would he get the same opportunities at Wigan? Probably not. And that’s another factor to take into account. Is it that the players are good at executing the Shaun Wane game plan? But are they agile? How will they adapt this season under a new coach? You could argue better players perform no matter what the system. And everyone will have their own view on what makes a better or good player too.

The Wigan wingers are better than the Castleford Wingers too, and that includes Eden! Jeez. I mean I know some cas fans fail to see the bigger picture, but it’s obvious.
Trueman had a good year, yes, by the way.

Wigan produce their talent and give them a chance to prove themselves , last year we let two of our under 19s internationals go for one reason or the other, both will feature this year in Leeds and Warrington colours , would Trueman had is chance with out our long injurie list may be NOT
Re: Kieran Gill joins Newcastle on loan for season
Your spot on johnson went as dp said he would never play super league had the lads in tears as for mc cleland as i think you are refering too dont rate the lad had a bad season for the 19s he always wants to be the 1 in fav but trueman took that roll and he was not happy yes played for England but not very good apart from his drop goal won the game but dont mean he had a good game the lad might come good but i have my doughts the only 1st team players not to get a chance this year with numbers was ashton and oneill ashton cant see him ever playing for cas as for oneill a very different story do not know why cas have not revieled the lad sign 1 year and been told thats the best deal for him as he dont want to be like gill and douglas not getting a chance we have to trust in our youth or pack in the u19sgateman wrote:Wigan produce their talent and give them a chance to prove themselves , last year we let two of our under 19s internationals go for one reason or the other, both will feature this year in Leeds and Warrington colours , would Trueman had is chance with out our long injurie list may be NOT

I thought I was on my own thinking Williams is far in front of Trueman but it’s fair to say he is young and he should develop into a top player but at the moment Williams is far the better playerMysterio wrote:Anyone who says (and believes) Trueman is better than Williams, or even had a better season than him overall last year, she/he is mentally ill IMB.HuddsTigers wrote:Trueman had a good first year - he was better than Williams last year.
