Re: season ticket sales...

Just had a look at attendances for last season:

- Down 12.44% YoY in regular season
- Down 13.38% YoY including Super 8s.

Biggest drops in regular season. I've put in possible reasons as to why where.

Huddersfield (-32.7%) - July vs March (holiday season, people away?); also a Sky TV game
Wakefield (-27.7%) - Sky TV game
Warrington (-19.8%) - Played in awful conditions on Easter Monday
St Helens (-18.2%) - Week after Magic so people may not have cash; 2017 was a Sunday game vs a Thursday game (less travelling support) and on Sky TV too.

The top two may be a bit of straw clutching. Wakey was played on Friday both times. Both times played in April. The only thing I can think of is kick off time. Wakey in 2017 was played at 2:30pm on an afternoon, whereas the KO time in 2018 was 7:45pm. Was there anything of significance that evening? Were people just put off by having a Friday kick off? Was there a train strike? Were both on Sky or just one? Was there adverse weather?

The worry is that both our Wakefield games (albeit the one in the Super 8s was a dead rubber) were hugely down from close to sell out to 7k or so.

Also had a look to see if the day of the week was an impact - in short I don't think it was: Of the 15 home games in 2018, 5 were on Sunday, 5 on Friday, 2 on Thursday, 2 on Saturday and 1 on Monday (Warrington). Compare that to 2017 when we had 3 games on a Sunday, 8 on a Friday, 3 on Thursday, 1 on Saturday.

So we can't use the excuse of Sunday games for the drop (we had more this year). And we can't blame Thursday nights as having an adverse effect given we had less this year and a combined 5/30 games over the last two seasons.

However, despite all of this it doesn't account for the fact that 8/11 of our regular season games were down YoY and 3/4 of our Super 8 games were down YoY.

Albeit there are factors to consider in 2017 such as Wakefield at H when we packed out the ground for winning the LLS bloating it.

For me, the 4 games highlighted above were all *in part* affected by travelling support (or lack of). The club can't account for that but it is a problem that our own fans seemingly pick and choose the games they go to. 3 out of the 4 above (Wakefield excepted) were the worst 3 crowds we had all season.

If our fans find it hard to travel the M62 midweek the same applies to the away traveling support , my son and I hardly ever miss an away game when not midweek, Thursday and Friday nights on the M62 no thanks
