Wardle hasn’t had time or a preseason to get used to playing centre again never mind having a fully fit team to get used to combinations.

As for he doesn’t want to play centre, at the end of the day he’s not going to get in at the back row at the moment. He has a chance to get a starting spot every week at centre and given the lack of international centres, a great chance to get an England shirt if he performs. Players should want to play every week. He’s played his career at centre in the majority.
We're ever Wardle plays if he plays he needs to be a lot better than he was I can barely remember him making a break last season

Foster for me when fits makes the 17 easy. Can play in different positions and is rock solid in defence. Could arguably be our centre next year if we bring nobody in.

Only 28/142 of his games for Huddersfield were in the back row and that was largely towards the end before his move to the NRL. For me, we need to forget the utility value of players and start focusing on giving players out and out positions. Squad looks massively better this way:

FB: Mata’utia, Turner
W: Eden, Minikin, Clare, Gill
C: Shenton, Wardle, Egodo
HB: Trueman, Roberts
SH: Ellis, Gale

And the same with the forwards. Moving Wardle loses a back-row forward and allows one of Moors and JSL to move into the back row. Personally I think Junior is more dangerous out wide:

P: Watts, Millo, Cook, JSL, Clark, Maher
SR: Holmes, McMeeken, Foster, Moors
LF: Milner, Massey

Immediately looks less top heavy and much more balanced across each area. I’d say we are still one centre short.

Starting team of:

1. Mata’utia
2. Minikin
3. Wardle
4. Shenton
5. Eden
6. Trueman
7. Gale
8. Watts
9. McShane
10. Millington
11. Holmes
12. McMeeken
13. Milner

Bench from JSL/Cook/Clark/Moors/Massey/Roberts/Ellis
No Foster at all then? Surely you’ve forgotten him rather than leaving him out? If we don’t sign a centre he would be in before Wardle (who is not a centre now)
Missed out than ignored though given the strength of the squad and a bench featuring JSL, Moors and Clark he may not even get in.
Give over man. Foster was by and away out best 2nd rower until his injury and i'd want him in my time over Holmes every day of the week.

If we want 4 2nd rowers it has to be McMeeken, Foster, Moors, JSL

However as Moors and JSL seem to be cover for props none of them or Holmes will be leaving

For me it would be this

1. Mata’utia
2. Minikin
3. New Centre
4. Shenton
5. Eden
6. Trueman
7. Gale
8. Watts
9. McShane
10. Millington
11. Foster
12. McMeeken
13. Milner

Bench JSL/Cook/Clark/Moors

If we have spent up then either
Wardle in centre
or
Minikin centre and Clare on wing

I have heard that we have made a signing already - a centre but not announced yet. we are well on the way with another 2 signings - a prop and a back-rower. We are also looking at offloading 2 players,

I was excited until I read another back-rower!

I’d rather keep Wardle think he’ll come strong next season with a good preseason and luck with injury would be Ellis and Aston for me maybe Roberts

Ellis and Aston is fine but their wages won't get you much in return.

Sorry Hudds, how did he not have a preseason? We signed him in August 2017. As for playing centre being some sort of surprise, when we signed him we had Webster and Shenton as recognised centres, and Holmes, McMeeken, Foster and one of JSL/Moors as recognised 2nd rowers.
Where was he expecting to play, half back???

I meant he didn’t have a preseason where he was a centre. He had a preseason as a second row last year. Different position, different sessions and different field moves. Different learning plays as a forward to a back and getting your lines and combos right I assume.

Mate, without wishing to disagree for the sake of it, Wardle was signed to eventually replace Webster, Minikin for Shenny. As you yourself said earlier in this thread, 70 odd % of Wardle's SL appearances have been at Centre.
I've nothing against Wardle, and really hope that his fitness issues are behind him and he cracks on to be a stand out player for us. When all's said he was good enough to play some NRL so should hopefully be able to return to his Huddersfield form.
Which was very good tbf, although I believe he'd benefit from playing left side over right.
