I understand Wigan invested in there little plan to get him off the two year ban everybody expected but in the weeks before he signed for them he was trying to get cas to offer him what Wigan were so he would come back to cas he shows all the signs of not wanting to be there he dosnt want to leave Ponte on the first days of his training with Wigan he's pulled for drink driving in a car with no m.o.t and no insurance with police investigating matters further if Wigan don't sack him off id be amazed

It's been said before, but there comes a time when principles and values are more important than names.
I'm nobody with inside information so I have to take things at face value, and if you promote yourselves as a family club based on integrity and decent behaviour, then you have to sometimes take a stand.
Zak's indiscretion wasn't the first time, as anyone at Leeds will tell you. They had seen enough.
I can also understand the view which suggests we stand by Zak, but if we had him back then any future incidents maybe involving a less valuable asset would have a precedent set.
If it had been some fringe player most would have wanted him sacked.

There’s still something in me saying he’d get his act together were he here with Powell & Wells et al.

A good point, but if he couldn't hold it together in his most successful season with the big prize in view, then we would all be waiting with bated breath in the future.
Zak clearly has no understanding of consequences when he makes choices.
I crap myself if my parking goes over by a minute, Zak drives under the influence with no insurance or MOT whilst currently banned from playing. Some people are hard to help.

It’s not just a matter of having him back or not it’s the long term damage it causes the team.only now really are we sorted at full back and our plays coming together.say we take him back and all pre season we have Zak at full back then bam he buggers up again and we have to change our plays yet again.so for me no I wouldn’t take him back

No it does not.

At the time there was no rush in sacking him.

Had we held put until he only got a 14month ban. We could have demanded a transfer fee. We wouldn't have had to pay him until November. As he was banned. Same as Wigan haven't.

I aren't saying Steve wasn't right to not want him at the club. But it cost us money. And we run a tight ship. We could have cashed in.

If Wigan keep him. He will repay them on the field. He's the best full back in this country by a mile. But it's going to take a giant leap of faith.

So your saying if he had got a 2yr ban and Cas had kept him then we wouldn't have had to pay him for 2yrs until his ban was finished meaning the 100k+ wouldn't have counted on the cap for 2yrs. So it was pointless sacking him unless it was for moral reasons only.

That can't be right, we needed to get rid to free up cash for a replacement as we all thought it was going to be 2yrs min so a waste of 200k for somebody sat at home. It turned out we couldn't get anybody so went with Roberts instead.

And for what its worth i don't think he is a country mile in front of PM from what i have seen so far.

Why would we want him back .... in the few games we have had PM at full back ...he has looked serious class.

can defend....can attack...has immense strength in the tackle...given a full off season with galey/ truueman he is going to be perfect for us.....sod the halfwit not our problem thank god ...

Cannot defend driving whilst under the influence....could quite easily have killed someone....bang him up

If coming from say £100'000 a year or whatever he was on at Cas to £500 a week cleaning of which I add is way above minimum wage, isn't going to learn him, then I'm afraid nothing will.

He's pi**ed enough chances up the wall and I'm sure there's plenty of young lads waiting to take an opportunity like Zak has been given time and time again.

I wouldn't have him back at Cas to clean the Princess Street men's toilet floor, never mind in any other capacity. Far more trouble then he's worth. As above we have Peter now who has fitted in well and I think I could honestly say he will never let us down like Zak did on the biggest night in our clubs history.

I'd have him back. On the right terms.

If Wigan sack him he would be in last chance saloon.

A much lower contract to earn our trust and close monitoring.

He's the best player in the league. And on ability alone he would be considered.

Especially with the opportunity to free PM into a centre position which isn't our strongest moving forward.

It will be up to Wigan. Daryl and Jon Wells. I certainly wouldn't pay a fee. And understand anyone who would wash their hands of him. But he's got the ability to keep getting chances. Slipping down the league's or out of the game won't be good for him mentally. And he's too gifted to let that happen

I know there’s been talk about taking him to court to try and recoup some cash back.
Been told today we can’t do that until he actually steps on the field with another club.
Anyone else heard this.
Seemed a bit far fetched tbh.
I know nothing about working laws, maybe someone might.

I don't tend to disagree with much of what you say, and I would agree he is without a doubt one of the best fullbacks in SL and the best we have had since Steady, but to say he is the best player in the league, come of it.

He had a great season last year, as did all of our pivots they were all outstanding, as were a number of other players in the team Millo and Webo to name but a couple more, but Zak the best player in the league???

Don't remember him being the best player in the league the season before we signed him either, think there's a few people that seem to remember his contributions to last season being hugely more memorable than I seem to remember.......... a very good fullback granted, best player in the league not a chance.

Also as much as I was all for giving him a second chance, and still believe we should and could have got some payment out of Wigan, the lad will continue to self-destruct because he's a numpty.

Happy for him to be Wigans numpty now and concentrate on PM who I think has every chance of turning into an excellent fullback from what I have seen so far.

Drink driving is unforgivable it ruins lives. I would not be surprised if there was something else in his system. I would not be happy for the club to sign some one who could have killed a family.

Without insurance either just to make it worse for the other party involved.

Almost exactly the same time of year since the last incident too, wonder if he'll be using the same excuse. Wigan should sack him and every other club should refuse to sign him.
