2019 Season

Post by gerin2em » 10 Sep 2018, 17:51

Season tickets available now (Monday 10 Sep) to pre order at club shops with no price increase. My birthdays coming up and what could be better than 14 matches paid for up front. Think its time to be dropping hints.

Does this suggest that clubs are aware of next years structure? :-k

No. We will get at least 14 games under the present system.

And we will get 14 under the proposed system of 12 teams, 11H, 11A and six loop fixtures (3H, 3A) and Magic (29 games).

But the article says excludes Super League play off games. Not sure what the proposed new structure is, so not sure if these loop fixtures are classed as play off games.

No, they aren’t. They are regular season games with a top 5 play off system being proposed after, which will be something like:

1st will get week off

2nd v 3rd
4th v 5th

1st v winners game 1
Losers of game 1 v winners of game 2

Losers game 3 v winners game 4

GF: winners game 3 v winners game 5

This is similar to NRL, but don’t they have a top 8 play off system?

If they decide on a system with looped matches they will make a bigger laughing stock than ever before but nothing they decide on would surprise me

You could go to Chester zoo and get a group of orangutanes and put them in charge and they would do a better job of running the game than the r.l

its a step back for me a move back towards licencing franchise system the big clubs don't like the chance off having a bad seasons and chance off relegation they will have one season were somebody gets relegated to get championship clubs to vote for it then close shop . I would not be that bothered if we had a new ground but that's thinking like big money clubs a not giving a toss about rest off structure . I think the eights system is the best we have had all they need to do is tinker we top eight to give every body in top eight a chance going in to that stage off play offs so you don't have four teams playing seven games for nothing.

It's rare to get more than 5-6 teams a realistic chance of making the semi finals with this structure. Far too many dead rubber games.
If they wanted to keep the 8 interested it should be like the old premiership system 1-8 2-7 3-6 4-5 highest ranked team at home cuts the play offs down to 3 rounds and adds the jeopardy for the odd upset. League Leaders should be a bigger trophy for being the most consistent over the season (it's not like the RFL haven't and old cups kicking around)

2 up 2 down

And keep the same format for longer than a few seasons.

It can only be in our game that the team finishing the regular season in 8th place, currently could in theory be champions. We are rewarding mediocrity and lack of ambition and as had been mentioned too many dead rubber matches. Teams need some MAJOR incentive to finish as high as possible and not just aim for top 8
Clubs moan about finances etc and want additional games but are unable or lack the will to go for the top
IMO top 5 play off with Big incentives to finish in top five ....1st play 5 and so on.
Bottom club relegated no if's or buts who ever club is.. top of Championship promoted
Simples... but then again this is RL
