Great position to be in, but as this season been our worst under Powell quality wise? Still don't think we have played to anywhere near our potential ( yes we have had injuries but we had them on a similar scale in 2016 but played at a much higher quality) so just hoping we start firing on all systems as we go in to the 8s.gateman wrote:what a few great seasons we have had since the arrival of DP here we are contemplating whether we will finish 2nd 3rd or forth its a far cry from being relegated long may it continue

Re: Super 8 fixtures
I think the quality may be attributed to the injuries with have had in our back line/pivots this year compared to 2016 (I’m sure someone with a better memory than me will be able to compare the 2) add the full back issue and it’s unbelievable we’re still in with a shout of 4th let alone top 2.Sharlotiger wrote:Great position to be in, but as this season been our worst under Powell quality wise? Re: Super 8 fixtures
This. In 2016 our long term injuries weren't in such pivotal positions and we made good use of loan players like Tickle, Patrick and Flynn to cover the gaps.
That said, in 2016 we never really had a sniff of the top four, despite winning 5/7 in the 8s.
So you could argue that this season under adversity has been a decent one.
Sometjing to be borne in mind is that the more success you have as a club, the more it costs you to retain your players, leaving less on the cap for recruitment.
In DP we continue to trust.

Announced on Wednesday at 12pm
If we win tomorrow it looks like we play
Home:
4, Warrington
5, Huddersfield
7, Wakefield
8, Catalan
Away:
1, Saints
2, Wigan
6, Hull FC
Sure hoping we play Saints and Wire either side of the CC Final. (guessing both will get there) Saints week before would be nice then Wire week after.

Re: Super 8 fixtures
Seems a bit odd that finishing lower down means we don’t play the top 2 away? Finishing 3rd gives us a more difficult run in with Saints/Wigan both away.
Re: Super 8 fixtures
Warrington fans are saying the exact same. Wanting us to beat Widnes today so they get the supposed better home/away run in.Lofthouse Tiger wrote:Seems a bit odd that finishing lower down means we don’t play the top 2 away? Finishing 3rd gives us a more difficult run in with Saints/Wigan both away.

Re: Super 8 fixtures
Looks like we will need to win all our home games to be sure of a top 4 spot. Those 3 Away’s arent great grounds for us historically.

We should be aiming for no less than 10pts

Hull F.C. are shot.
We should be looking to get a win there.

The journey on the M62 is a major factor in teams performances these days for trans pennine fixtures.old cas lass wrote:3 at home and one away.ERG2012 wrote:We should be aiming for no less than 10pts

Re: Super 8 fixtures
A lot will depend on when/how the fixtures fall.
If it favours us we will get:
- Teams in 5, 6, 7 & 8 when they mathematically can't get in the top 4
- One of the losing cup semi finalists in the first round
- Both cup finalists either side of the final
Knowing our luck it will pan out the opposite of that!!

Given the "every minute matters" mantra the bosses came up with on the Super /middle 8 launch they will try and make it interesting fixture wise. Maybe give us Hudds home then Saints away to try and give the former a sniff.

I think 10 point cushion on them plus CC distraction puts them out of the running.
