Jake Trueman
Re: Jake Trueman
I was talking to my mate who is a Leeds fan before kick off talking about young players. The problem with them is that showing natural ability isn't the problem - it's doing it on a consistent basis that is the difficulty. Oledzki is a good example in that he was expected to play five games at the most this season for Leeds, and has now not missed a game in a couple of months. In that time he has had great games (against us at Magic) and poor games (yesterday). I'd say the same about Jake Trueman - he was probably not expecting to be the starting half back but having now been in the side since the start of May, in what is his first proper season - in the most difficult, specialist position on the pitch - he is going to have ups and downs. I imagine Daryl would probably have liked to rest or rotate him but it is tricky without reshuffling the entire team.
I genuinely think he will be better for this experience and for me should be playing at 6 alongside Luke Gale when he is back from injury instead of Jamie Ellis. That's if he can slot in on the right hand edge when Luke comes back to take the left edge that he has orchestrated so well. It was a pleasure to see him glide through the Leeds line so effortlessly in the second half.

Re: Jake Trueman
There isn't a half-back in the world who can dominate a game if the pack in front of them is constantly on the back foot. Yes, the half-back needs to guide the pack but if you're losing dominance in the tackle the tackle you will always be going backwards.

Re: Jake Trueman
Jake take a bow young lad. Fantastic performance yesterday. The most pleasing thing for me is that he isn't afraid to take the line on. He has all the skills, but I do agree that he currently lacks just that half yard of pace. He could have had 3 in the first half. I think this will come though with sprints during off season. He doesn't need pace to go the length of the field, just that explosive few yards to get through the gap. Agree 100% that he should be starting half with Gale when Gale is back. The experience, both good and bad, that he's gained having to try and lead the side around the field in his first season without a leader next to him will prove invaluable and make him a better player for it. His stint at fullback will also have done him good. We need to stick with him and give him the 6 shirt next year in my opinion. Keep up the good work Jake

Re: Jake Trueman
Great game, kept getting his nose through ,l agree once he has mastered that initial burst of speed to get through the gaps he either sees or creates he will take some stopping.
He has a good tackling game as well.
His organisational skills are developing week on week.
We certainly need to secure his services with a long contract.
A very exciting young player.
Well done Jake.

Re: Jake Trueman
Though far from the finished article DP rates him very highly, so I don’t see why he would want to offload him at this point in time, particularly if Roberts is going home as has been suggested. Even more bizarre if the player touted as coming the other way is accurate.Casmoley wrote:ERG2012 wrote:I read the Warrington forum and they are wanting him to team up with Blake Austin

Reading that thread someone suggested Sneyd, that fits with him being from over the wrong side of the pennines and Lineham wanting to come back over this wayCasmoley wrote:old cas lass wrote:When’s trueman contract run out.
