The run in

Post by heritage1926 » 22 May 2018, 16:26

10 games to play; for me, we are in a very good place right now table and fixture wise. Looking at the fixtures, we've some favourable games in the next 10, especially the last 5 games.

KR, Wire and KR all after each other, for me is where we make up the points that jump us in to 3rd place in the table. After that, there is nothing stopping us from 2nd or even top depending which teams above us go further in the CC.

Leeds and Hull are absolutely crocked just at the right time of the season, which for me means Saints, Wigan, Wire and Cas all playing for 4th.

Saints (H)
KR (A)
Warrington (A)
KR (H)
Wigan (H)
Catalan (A)
Leeds (H)
Salford (A)
Widnes (H)
Widnes (A)

Loving that attitude heritage! Should be 7 out of 10 for me. That's gotta be doable. That would take us to 32 points, which was my aim for this season (30-32). Looking at last year's table before the split that would have got us second place.

You seem to have Widnes twice, you are actually missing Huddersfield at HOME which is between Salford and Widnes and of course, not Widnes twice :D

My target would be 7 wins. That will be enough to challenge for 3rd come Super 8s time. I think Saints and Wigan have top 2 spots sorted. Both look real good.

Us, Wire and Hull to fight for last 2 spots. Would be great if we make our 2 games in hand over Wire count.

Based on 2016 we need to get 20/30 wins to finish 4th.

Win 6 games and we will need to get 5 more out of the rest and the Super 8s. With this season going the way it is, I can see it being smack between the two.

Something like 36 points will get 4th. 9 more wins.

The run in starts this Thursday a win over Saints would set us up nicely every game should be taken as a must win if our intentions are to return to Old Trafford, I am sure that is what Daryl will be putting over to the lads

The level of performance on Thursday will reveal a lot about whether the squad believe it's achievable and also how badly they want it.

I said a couple of weeks ago that we were now playing for 3rd or 4th spot. That hasn't changed for me.

I would love us to get to OT and, if it happens, it would be a bigger achievement than last year given what's happened with injuries and the other stuff we all know about.

Proper big game on Thursday.....

I don't see Thursday as a big game. It's not a must win either. Saints are the best team in the league. If we lose, so be it. We will still have 2 games in hand over Warrington and will only be 4 points behind max. Then 7 of our last 9 games will be against teams below us in the league as well as Wigan at home and Wire away. All winnable in my eyes. This game is the toughest game we have left before the split.

Take points when you can. Never say "we have X then Y" as a couple of injuries could change the whole dynamics of the chase for the 4. Leeds and Hull are both seriously hampered by the volume of missing players. We need to take advantage of their unforeseen circumstances putting daylight between us and them and pressure on.

Them last 5 fixtures well and truly make up for the fixtures we've just had in May. The old saying of, it's now how you start, it's how you finish really applies here.
