Re: No longer a rumour.... ZH
Dwain chambers was a publicity stunt for both parties. Was never going to make a rugby player. Totally different scenario

Zak out on the [REMOVED] on the Pontefract Catholic clubs trip to Whitby, wonder if there are any white lines around there?

If so Catholicism has changed since I was a lad.

correct alcasfan, it was the captains run on the 7th and I questioned at the time how he could turn up and take part in that after 6/7 pints of larger and 2 litres of spirits shared with his mate the night before.alcasfan wrote:alcasfan wrote:And what he says re the dates involved dont quite reflect what is in the Anti doping Panel report. Re: No longer a rumour.... ZH
I keep seeing and hearing that Steve Gill stepped in when we were 30 minutes from going out of business and “Saved our club”. If this is the case can anyone answer these questions.
1. What was the issue that saw us almost out of business?
2. What did Steve Gill do in that 30 minutes to “Save our club”.
3. If he is/was the hero and so good at his job why has he been sacked?
It’s all good and well saying the fans have turned or are not supportive of SG but where is Fulton in all this? Surely he is the man to have sorted this being the top man. Where was the loyalty from Cas to SG?

I’m not sure how you can describe Hardaker as a cheat, he was found guilty of having an illegal recreational drug in his system. On the other hand in the past we have signed on a player in Ryan Hudson who had served a ban for taking an anabolic steroid and made him club captain. Not to mention the circus that we created when we gave world famous drug cheat Dwayne Chambers a trial.St Albans tiger wrote:Is it better to be have morals and not win or employ cheats and win.

1. What was the issue that saw us almost out of business?.. Steve Ferris wanting to take the club into admin, not thinking that we would have to sell the ground to pay the debt. So putting the club in admin, would have seen the club liquidated .
2. What did Steve Gill do in that 30 minutes to “Save our club”. He took over has CEO, and didn't take the club into admin. He persuaded Powell to come on board , and with the backing of Mr Fulton turned things around, without the owner dipping into his pockets
3. If he is/was the hero and so good at his job why has he been sacked? Because he sacked a druggy so some say, others say he stepped aside due to his health,

Re: No longer a rumour.... ZH
Fail to see how Steve Gill can be held responsible for Zacs transgressions.
When he became CEO we were perpetual relegation contenders , alledgedly on the verge of administration with all that that entails.
Under his stewardship we are now a top four contender.
Challenge Cup Finalists, L.L.S. winners by the largest margin ever and Grand Finalists.
We are now a profit making business not reliant on the generous largess of The Fultons.
He was instrumental in bringing Daryl Powell to the club.
How any Cas fan can have anything other than respect for what he achieved is beyond me.
Some people think they either know or should know everything that is going on at the club, well no sensible business operates in such away.
So thank you Steve Gill.
Ps lovely to get yet another win over the Rhinos something that was also a rarity before he became C.E.O.

Re: No longer a rumour.... ZH
Yet please don't criticise Steve. A loyal cas man through and through and if it wasn't for him we would be still struggling at the bottom of the table. Even if he did make some mistakes they wouldn't of been intentionally.as a fellow mineworker from steves era I have nothing but respect for the man
Re: No longer a rumour.... ZH
Those criticising Steve are probably the same people who were clamouring for Hardaker to re sign. The man who single handedly wrecked one of the greatest season's in the clubs history. Steve is clearly a man of integrity who always put the club first, the same could never be said of Zak.
Re: No longer a rumour.... ZH
I agreed with sacking him totally. I think it was the right thing to do,I think Wigan are a disgrace with the way they have acted in this though. I hope we pursue them through the courts if we we feel they have undermined a players contract before he was officially dismissed.
