I think he’s the best thing to happen to thismclub in mnany many years.

However, I think he’s got a lot wrong this pre season.

Most notably his choice of fullback...or should I say fullbacks...

Including Trueman. And embarrassingly, shenton too.
I’m reading all these posts about we need a full back, totally agree, but no one is saying who is available, and for how much. All I’ve heard mention is Mead at Catalans, but look how many points have been scored against that team.

There’s no one available.
We will just have to plod on through the rest of the season and hopefully we’ll bring a decent one in for 2019.

If Zak move frees Escare up he'd be my choice.

If Tomkins leaves Escare will be kept as a back up fullback/half back I think so that will be a no go.

Hitchcox effort on Barba when he caught up was amateurish and, well, lame...
It's wasn't the best, all he needed to do was take his legs and he would have been in touch.

FB situation think we know it all came too late in the day to get a proper one.

His plan was Roberts and it's backfired big time
watch it again and give barba credit. looking over his shoulder, lures jy in and then veers in to counteract jy's effort.

Tomkin to Catalan, Mead to Cas, Hardaker to Wigan? or is the Mead wishful thinking? He's already being played out of position in the centres in favour of Gigot at fullback, it strikes me that Gigot will then be moved to accomodate Tomkins, which surely Means no room for Mead?

Nah he went high, like lost of them do nowadays.

We were always told you cant go anywhere without your legs growing up. If he'd gone for the legs it would have been no try.

I’m of the Same opinion. Went high for the glory ball and all tackle or to dislodge it.
Rather see him go airbourne at his legs and have their speed and momentum land them in touch.

This year when Barba has made a break he has scored, Jy came from the opposite side of the field and very nearly took him into touch, he showed he had some speed to cover the distance, and it was a great effort.

We had the heart of our team sitting on the bench, and took it to saints, baring two fortuitous tries in the first half it would have been nil nil at the break, and the second half might have been a very different game.

Your right, nothing in it at half-time, only 2 long efforts saving them.

I don't like that our attacking option is the high kick, we need to keep the ball in hand and mix it up.

Jy had two options

1: hit Barba upstairs and clamp him in. This works when you have momentum and also a physical weight/strength advantage over the attacker. Barba is very strong and powerful in the thighs hips and core.

2: Go really low. As in just below the knees and use the speed and your weight to change the direction of the lower legs towards the touchline. It also stops the ball carrier "getting air" to avoid contact with the floor. It whips them around in theory towards the side line. (the other defender)

Jy simply Chose the wrong one.

How good is mead though when gigot and Tierney got games at full back in front of him. On his day he looked awesome in Oz.

I'd much prefer Mamo at fullback, Mead's approaching 30, Mamo's not even 24 yet.
